Anyone heard of these guys? Pretty shady I'm sure. Who can make these for this price even with forced child labor? jeez... 200 bucks for a full size pattern welded viking sword? They have reviews on the site, which I also assume are fake. Looks like they've been around for maybe a year according to when their fb started. their address is downtown Chicago, so I don't believe they are family owned business like their FAQ says (which also says they hand make these) The hilt actually seems off center, which makes me believe these aren't full tang... if there is a tang. lmao Viking Sword / Ulfberht Sword- High Carbon Damascus Steel Sword- 39"- Stiklesta

That's crazy low price. Even for a half tang blade with no distal taper. I mean I guess that billet would cost 50 bucks

They have reviews on the site, which I also assume are fake. Strange. Everyone has very positive comments and all are during a 10 day period in October.

I bought a katana and scimitar from them and was surprised how good the swords were. They were so cheap I only expected wall hangers, but they are quite functional. They are working on a custom knife for me now. Anyone heard of these guys? Pretty shady I'm sure. Battling blades is a crapshoot. Check the bbb reviews. This guy Brian will tell you anything to get you to buy. Promised me a kukri by Christmas. Created a shipping label that sat for a week. After emailing tried to tell me it had to be hand made, after telling me it was in stock to begin with. I reported him to the BBB in which he tried telling me no guarantee was given. My response was the screen shots that said it. The case was then closed without resolution. The guy is a scammer. His site has reviews that are all reviewed by him first lol I've left numerous reviews that arent posted. The blade finally came way late and what was supposed to be "battle ready" was so dull I could run my finger down the whole blade. At least I got the right knife I ordered I guess. I wouldnt waste my time or money on this company.

They have nice stuff. I have bought a few items. Some items ship fast but some do not. The slow ones are made to order and you need to email them to find out which. Most are full tang, not all though. The scabbards are as simple as they can get, but the swords are really nice. They are properly hardened and have an HRC of 55. I tested it and it is accurate. The billets alone in Damascus are hard to get at the prices of their sword so I think the prices are great. I have only tried the Damascus items, not 1095. Yes, blah blah blah, it's not wootz, we have all heard it before, but it is layered, pattern welded steel, what else do you call it? In summary, I have experience with them and highly recommend them.

Welcome aboard. Post up some pictures and testing methodology. Are you using files, machine or sharpening experience to judge hrc? It is always interesting to read first hand experience with goods and members introducing themselves by bringing up older business. The pre-sale price on the viking isn't really out of line with the Windlass, or used Hanwei swords. There is little doubt the company is selling middle eastern goods and that isn't necessarily bad but even one favorable review kind of says it all, as far as experience goes. Fantastic sword for a fantastic price Positives: The damascus pattern is beautiful. The quality is unmatched at this price range. It is clearly a hand forged blade. It is heavy and well balanced. The handle is comfortable. Overall, I am incredibly happy with this blade and will be purchasing more from Battling BladesConveniently omitted are some fairly basic specifications. battlingblades.com/products/viking-sword-ulfberht-sword-high-carbon-damascus-steel-sword-39-stiklestad?Like so many blade sources, bling and ad copy can sell product. Billets of "damascus" are not terribly expensive to produce and when one factors in third world wages and bulk exporting costs, one can see where a sword such as this might be priced closer to $200 than the $50 or so it might cost to produce and export to the US. When we look at the participating membership here, one is looking at perhaps a couple of hundred that might venture to learn here. Once familiar with the market, swords such as this rather easily drop down to the bottom of the bucket. Someone posting as a patron favoring an item or source could do well to offer up real reviews of the items, or in this case, maybe share some pictures and impressions, along with more specifications such as weight and distal properties. How much do you figure their cost is for a damascus knife listed at $40?

It is more of a viking inspired blade then anything, grip looks too long and tip is messed up for a viking era piece, for the price tho not much to lose trying it out but expectations should be kept low or stick with the established brands to avoid what could be crap and most likely is
