Belly full of sashimi... I posit the question, why is bluefin tuna the most perfect of foods?

It's just another cheap fish. Put it in a can with the rest of the tuna.
A pan full of filleted, lightly breaded and fried in olive oil bluegill? Or trout roasted over an open fire? Now that's fish worth bothering with.
But even that's nothing like a bird that was flying an hour before being served.
A nice dry red, pinot nior preferred, and fresh picked asparagus on the side and there is a glimpse of heaven...

Regarding sashimi, i quite like swordfish sashimi. Gotta love that mercury!

Tuna and salmon are about the only fish I eat. Both are good sources of Omega 3 but tuna has more protein and less calories and fat. As for mercury the more fat in the fish the more mercury it will hold. Albacore tuna will have more mercury than other types of tuna. Like the saying goes, if it swims or flies it's good for you. When was the last time you saw a cow swim of fly ?

Smart ass. But there is a big difference between flying and falling, mainly the sudden impact at the end.
