I'm getting a custom-made scabbard from Brian at DBK Custom Swords. I had previously commented how great it was working with Christian Fletcher, as he posts updates so customers can follow along with the progress of their projects. This is accomplished through the use of temporary "what's in-work now" galleries. I think this is an outstanding feature and it allows for a real sense of knowing just what's happening. It also allows for immediate customer feedback like "Oh wait. Change that detail or this color, etc." without waiting to the end.
An added bonus is that you can send the gallery link to friends and "share the fun" of watching your custom piece coming together.
Brian took this suggestion to heart and created his own "what's in-work now" gallery. IMO it would be great if this became a standard for the industry. But for now, allow me share my project that Brian is undertaking.
The sword is a one-off Type XII single hand sword that Gus Trim built for show at the Blade Show 2007 in Atlanta. I added a grip wrap in a distressed tan with brown splotches to give it a customized but well worn look. This was actually a sword I was planning on sending to Christian Fletcher for a scabbard, as it's one of my favorites. But when I saw Brian's work I decided this would be my first sword for him to address.
Here's the gallery link to the "Work Bench" for those who would like to follow the progress while this one's in-work:

If this works as I understand, it will always show what Brian's working on. So this project will only be there as long as it's in-work, then be replaced by the next project.
