you'll have to drop $500 on a mass production bullet casting set up. You can make enough money seliing cast bullets to pay for the gear in a month or so, and in another month, you'll be able to pay another $500 for a 600 rd per hour Lee Progressive reloader. Then you can shoot almost any handgun caliber for 6-8c per rd, and turn them out at a rate of 300 per hour, casting and reloading, total product. Hustle some lead from old boat keels, scrap yards (wheelweights from tire stores) you can even bust up and soak old car batteries, for about half of your lead, but it's dangerous and nasty and has to be mixed with better lead. You end up with 2-3c each in 9mm-45 bullets, and can sell them for 7-10c each. Check out your local IDPA, IPSC, Bullseye, Metallic Silohuette, PPC shooting clubs, and sell at gun shows, too. shipping costs are so high that long distance purchases are impractical.
Several of the LEE 5 cavity mold, an old propane-fired plumber's furnace or weed-burner, a big cast pot from wallys. You want a side pour ladle. You might have to make your own for .45 heavy bullets, 6 at a time, cause that's a lot of lead. you can size and lube about 500 bullets per hour with a single station press if you've already got one, lee alox lube and their very low-cost handsizer. but the real answer is a Star Progresive sizer-luber machine $400 or so, sizes 2000 bullets per hour, if you really go to it.

cast and load all winter and you'll make enough money to cover your handgun shooting costs for the rest of the year, even if you fire 40,000 rds, half of it rimfire. Get set up with airsoft and .177 lead pellets and you'll only need .22lr for snapshooting practice for the conversion unit in the rifle. I long ago ceased needing to practice with .22lr from from the strong side shoulder, so all that's required is 5000 rds of .22lr per year, from the weak side shoulder., airsoft for man vs man fun and training, .177 for precision practice, and about 1000 rds of .223 per year for the longer range stuff. If you have any brains, you wont be out and about during daylight hours once shtf. NVD goggles and luminous sights limit you to about 300m, for sniper type shots. So few enemies will have night vision that it's not much of a concern and a lot fewer of them will have suppressors, subsonic ammo, night sights, soft armor. If you know to be underground, well concealed, and have at least a 6 month supply of cached food, the abiity to use sprouts, non-hybrid seeds, and root veggies, with lots of nettting, there will be very little need for you shoot people and when you do, they will have almost no chance, which is the only way to go.
