Never paid too much attention to Chinese swords but have been looking at them more frequently as of late. Is there any type of illustrated guide similar to Oakshott? Or side by sides of popular geometries?

Ahh... I remembered some 2-3 years back, I attended a Sword Appreciation event organized by a local sword retailer where the same Thomas Chen was the invited guest speaker for the topics about Chinese Swords. After much effort starting his ppt presentation on the big screen, he flashed abt 2 slides, mumbled a couple of words nervously.. then he suddenly apologised that he did not have enough sleep the previous night & to all the audiences & organizer's astonishments, he haphazardly walked out of the hall & never to return!! -poof!- I was taken aback, naturally. When I returned home, I decided to visit his URL (which was full of pop-up adwares) & posted some queries to his email, but he never responded, as though he no longer manages the site! Since then, I started to doubt his work on the a/m URL.. Sorry to have said this here but I thought it's good to share this strange experience with you guys..

I have always been interested in jian and hope to one day own a multi row pattern welded one. Although I like two handed ones better than one handed, I hope you get onto the two handed ones one day Garrett. How are your business plans coming along?

Interesting experience Larry. Maybe he has difficulty in public speaking? I'm not sure about the man himself but I believe the pics on his site are credible. wraith, a twistcore 2 handed jian is unquestionably custom and I am already in the custom scene Everything is going ok I'm expecting pics of the actual production within a week or 2.

Thanks. Theres some interesting stuff on that page. I like some of the unusual cross sections, like 3 and 4 from the left on the top row.

Do you younger guys still read some books? Then you probably know of Alex HuangFu Jiang: Iron and Steel Swords of China ISBN 978-7-5332-5358-5 It is written in Chinese, but not so academic and not always 100% correct. But the good thing is it`s coloured fotos, several hundreds of them, on antique sabres and swords, the best collection of pics, worth to buy alone for those. English version seems do be discussed! Academic, but expensive and mostly black/white pics (some colour fotos at the back), on all Chinese weaponry: Yang Hong: Weapons in ancient China ISBN 1-880132-03-6
