Fun question: A skilled samurai with a single katana will attack you. What sword or dual weapons or polearm would you like to have? Another katana? Two? Longsword? Sword & Buckler? Messer? Rapier & Main Gauche? Spear? Halbert? Dane Axe? Chainsaw? edit: Saber? (No guns, bows, crossbows)

Am I armored? If I'm in full plate harness, I take a poleaxe.
He can bash his edge against my plate all he likes. I'll take him apart with the poleaxe.

AR15 hands down.
Shoot didn't see limitations. Dual weapons would be dual 9mms.

Rapier and rotella. Gives me immensely more reach, and I can defend myself with the rotella even if he closes.

I'd take rapier and main gauche, the spanish one. A buckler with a short sword attached.

Where are we? When? What's the surrounding terrain like? Are there other people involved? Does he have armour? Do I have armour? What's his objective, and do I have one besides survival? Etc...

Either a spear (later version) or if I'm feeling like I'd 'honor' him, a Naginata.
Any kind of polearms really. They're called the most successful melee weapon in history for a reason you know.

You didnt state if he's wearing armour or whether i have armour
He's got armour and i don't: A halberd. Swing hard at range and hope for the best. Maybe at the legs...
We both have armour: Id choose full plate and a Poleaxe
We both have no armour: Rotella and sidesword/ rapier. I normally practice longsword but i feel a rotella and rapier combo would give the best advantage

Longsword and large shield. I'd prefer one with no metal rim and hope he doesn't have time to realize I can trap his weapon.

Atgier, most definitely. The king of all Viking weapons. Which I may be making one real soon, if my hardware store sells 96” rods.

If I’m going to be humorous, it would be the piece of junk PP-19 Bizon airsoft gun I bought back in April. The only thing it ever hurt was my wallet. I’ve never even scored a single kill with it. Therefore, it would be the ultimate diss to slay a samurai with it!

After dressing for the occasion, dawning my mail which will go a long way preventing lacerations and my 14 ga kettle hat and 16 ga vambracers should prevent fractures and concussion. Since a buckler is listed I assume a shield would be allowed. With that and any number of pointy weapons I have I’d attend to the samurai who I assume is also dressed for the occasion and if not the better for me. I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with a rapier and main gauche. I would want to give point as opposed to cuts due to his armour. If we are not dressed my shield and sword, type doesn't really matter to me but am partial to a pointy one.

A good broken in pair of Asics tennis shoes and a custom Kimber in .45 with 2 or 3 extra magazines.
