So I'm torn between two swords. I've gotten to the point where I've made good arguments for each in my own head and need something to break the tie.
Sword 1: Universal Swords Denmark Norway 1701. This sword is one I've been considering for a while. These Gavelins commissions seem well made, I like the look, and I've never owned a straight double edged sword. The last part has me wondering, cause I'm not sure if I'll end up liking it more than curved singles edge swords or not.
Sword 2: Custom CS Shamshir. I've gotten in touch with Curry about having a CS Shamshir rehilted as a karabela. His price is reasonable, and I'm confident he would do a good job, I'm just wondering if the blade is worth it, and if thats preferable to the 1701.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Obviously, I can't speak to the 1701, but keeping that in mind... I have the Windlass Shamshir, old model, which I'm pretty sure is the same blade as the CS one. If James Curry is convinced that he can do a good job with it, it's my opinion that it would be a good choice. The fittings are definitely the weak point of the Windlass, and I've heard people are even less of a fan of the CS version's fittings. Grain of salt, again. It's your money. ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Curry does great work for a good price, I've been satisfied with all the work he has done for me

Here's a vote for #1, for purely selfish reasons. I'd love to know what it's like, how it handles. ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

How about a gunblade (from FFVIII)?? I know Jim Curry does super great work, but admittedly I don’t know much about sword #1.
