This afternoon, I finally got around to cutting with my Hanwei Bastard sword. About a year ago, a friend mentioned that these swords cut well, so I picked one up and then proceeded to forget about it for 9 months or so... This past week I sharpened the existing edge. It didn't take much effort to make it shaving sharp. As can be seen in the video, this sword cuts very well, especially considering the price of about $225 from Kult of Athena.

Another great video. What are your top 5 best cutters (concerning swords you have personally cut with)?

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

This is *probably* gonna be my next purchase. The long sword is my go-to, and I have all the other great Hanwei L/S's, so why not.

Its a cool sword, but definitely ill-named; its more of a two-hander! I like mine a lot; very nice cutting, Ser Aikidoka!

Nice. I was thinking of getting a sword as a gift for a friend who is just getting started. This might be a good one.

Wow! Nice double cut. Perfect illustration of the handling capabilities of this sword.

Indeed, it is well build on a good blade. As you can see it handles very well, is not too heavy so beginners should not have problems and it is attractive too. Awesome gift I'd say.
