Looks like this thread has come to life again. I don’t heavily favour daggers as their blades don’t work the best for everyday chores. For combat my 15” antique kukri would be a favourite although I’d rather substitute a modern made example about equal. My favourite dagger would be Windlass’s now discontinued Poignard. The blade appears only good for penetration so forget GP. Those long quillons make it great for combat as they can be employed many ways. After recently reading about a Brit of some fame demonstration on his use of a dirk on request during a meeting of British officers during the 18th or 19th century my preface for the Poignard has increased. The Poignard can be used the same and perhaps a bit better due to those quillons.

Ha! No harm though. First time I’ve seen this thread which pre-dates my membership. Nice topic. I’m not a fan of bullock daggers. Makes me feel like I’m gripping something that, as a heterosexual male, makes me feel a little uncomfortable.
I'm more a fan of traditional medieval daggers and those from various ethnic cultures... and large, bordering on short sword size. There's a pugio hidden behind that jian.
If we are being honest, practically everyone identifying as a man has had a lifetime of holding something of a similar shape in their hand. If for no other reason than simple pleasure of directing a urine stream in the desired direction. If you want to feel sympathy for someone, think of all the ridiculous bell-ends that a urologist has to examine over the course of a career. I never cease to be amazed at how utterly hilarious our human existence is in all of its broad grotesquerie.

My favorite daggers is the long dagger/short sword I cut down and adapted from a Hanwei/Tinker longsword. It's blade forward enough to be capable of powerful cuts, but has enough reinforcement in the point to penetrate through most bone, tissue, and even heavy clothing without issue.

Well, if this picture is anything to go by... then I think it's a safe bet my favorite is the good ol' bullock dagger. It just has a certain character and (crass) class that does it for me.

I think I will just summarize it with: All of them. Every dagger. Good answer Yes! Though I would ask...is the question about things you've seen, or actually held? For me, 2 very different answers. So....All of them.

Easier to list, what I don't like, bollock. I find genitalia as funny as the next guy, but bollock daggers just don't hit the spot for me.
Though I like most, I have a strong attraction to quillon daggers.

Same with WW2 Nazi daggers; they can have some attractive elements, but seeing a swastika is a big nope for me.
One I like the look of but don't actually own is the Danish dagger. That narrow ricasso really looks nice.

What a lovely rib tickling stinger that one is.

While its dagger history may not go back as far, they are selling (and I just purchased a few for me and my brother) the Cold Steel Black Bear Classic on Midway USA for 25% off the already low $149.99 sale price for the next 30 something hours. I got the old budget kraton handled OSS years ago in Carbon V steel, but always wanted that beautiful Black Bear. That's some first rate quality material for not far north of 100 bones!

Yeah, a pretty specific piece. Though I doubt a Windlass version would be much less that 200$ either.

I just got two Tod Cutler daggers for $75 each, so my expectations may be a little unrealistic. And being such an unusual unique item I doubt one will come up used here, but you get to a point in your collecting where only the unique items are left to get.

I do like the look of the blade profile on that Danish dagger but like mrstabby, I'm not a big fan of the looks of the quillons. Too long and pointy for my personal taste. I do think that in the coming year I'm going to focus more on higher end daggers rather than swords. Tod actually has two daggers I desperately want to add to the collection right now but financial responsibility dictates otherwise. The ridiculously awesome Holbein dagger and, of course, this lovely "rude" bullock dagger. Maybe if no one picks them up for the next month or two I'll get my chance.

I ask because I wanted to know, how much does it cost you to import from the UK. For me you can add like 50% to the prices on Tods website now since the UK left the EU.... So it's a non issue for me if I like Tods work unfortunately.
BTW, that Holbein dagger looks like it belongs in Skyrim...

I always think of this one when I hear "Holbein"... I have another Tod dagger on my wish list (though I wouldn't say "No" to any of them), this bronze rondel looks so freaking cool to me, just sleek and murdery! Attachments:
