A nagamaki's handle should be slightly longer than its blade (which is almost katana blade length)... they were used for slashing through enemy front lines and chopping down the infantry horses' legs. Gruesome. Someone else obviously drew inspiration from nagamaki battling:

Ha! Just posted this under tactical; you were faster! Gonna order soon... i am planning a project sword here, stepping away a little from the ZT look:
* blade will be requested to be made in satin finish * grip scales will either be left as clean, polished aluminium or * the blade will be ordered as a satin finish blank to put some real nice wrap/scale designs of my own on

Personally I'd think unfinished aluminum scales are a bit too shiny but satin blades always add a nice classy touch to ZT stuff. Looking forward to your full review on this, I'm really keen to know how this handles...
