I'm thinking of buying an armet/close helm from KoA---one of the few styles of helm that I don't yet have. I'm thinking about either the GDFB Maximillian or the Lord of Battles Tudor armet. Does anyone own one of either model? If so, opinions or thoughts? I suck at posting links, but you can see them both on KoA under 'Renaissance Helmets' at the bottom of the page. The LoB armet is speaking to me...hard. Thanks.....Chris

Thanks for the links, D.S.---My armor is only for costume, so the thickness of the steel doesn't concern me much. There are no reviews on the GDFB Max, but the LoB Tudor has two very positives. I'll have to wait 'till Monday to email KoA about some measurements on how big the neck openings are when closed. Those sharp-looking edges concern me, but a padded collar/long padded coif will cure any problems there.

Yeah, the MRL Tudor is pretty boss, including the plume holder and suede leather-lined interior. Sounds to be pretty posh. Just can't make up my mind between an armet or a close helm....there IS a difference. The one that will allow me to wear my 2nd eyes underneath will be the winner...unlike my great helm that I can wear an Elmer Fudd hat and some huge Roy Orbison frames underneath.

These are for dress, not combat use right? I would not trust my head in one for any form of sparring....

Sorry for the lagging response, but yes, my armor is strictly for show. My armored fighting days are long gone by.
