I've narrowed it down to either a Dynasty Forge or a sinosword but I can't seem to get on sino's website the pictures don't show if the blades have a curve to it like the Dynasty Forge does.

Yeah I think i'll just wait for the Dynasty Forge ones, the sinosword's don't grab my attention like the Dynasty Forge one do. Thanks for taking the time to help me look Storm.

I’ve been eyeballing this Sinosword liuyedao for some time. I really like the look. The stats seem pretty good considering it’s a full length sword. In the photos, the sword seems to have a three-plate construction forging line with a nice hamon. www.sinosword.com/Double-dragon-LiuYe-Dao-sabre.htmlI ended up going with a niuweidao instead: www.sinosword.com/Niuwei-Dao-oxtail-sword.htmlOh, and btw, availability for their website seems to come and go, but they are always responsive to email. Happy hunting.

Thanks everyone, I contacted Dynasty Forge to see on a time frame when to expect an order, they said they would have new orders coming in this year but couldn't give me a time frame until a week or two before it arrives. Does anyone know if the DF willow leafs are deferentially hardened like the sinos are? And is that historically accurate?

The only problem I have with the Sinosword's one are they look like a katana with that hamon and I like the DF's "wootz" look with the visible pattern on the blade. I sent a email to Sino to see if they could do a custom Liuyedao for me, see what they say.

Sino will thru harden your blade if you like. They will also give you choice of construction (maru, sanmei, etc.) and choice of steel (1095, 9260, folded, twisted, etc.). Just email them.
They were also willing to send me photos of bare blades so I could evaluate the tang designs. (They were pretty robust for the type of sword; the ones I saw, anyway.)

sinoswords customer service is superb, usually responds in a day or 2, sometimes even less

Well for the time being I ended up placing a order for the Dynasty Forge Yan Mao Dao on Kult of athena's website to tide me over while I decide what I want to do about the Liuyedao :)

My Yan Mao Dao arrived yesterday but I figured I'd wait until tomorrow as my DF Jian is arriving so I'd just photograph them both :)
