Anyone here own one?
I had talked to someone back right before I bought my 15th c. longsword nad they just had kinda picked it up at KOA in the store.
Wondering about how it actually handles / performs overall, why I'm asking if anyone owns it.
Hansome sword IMO
cheers

Yeah quite surprising...I too was interested in this sword when I first saw it...but could never het pat the fishtail pommel (I hate fishtail pommel in general). The odd thing is that I don't know anyone who owns one either. Wierd.

Conversely , I really like that pommel. The flat section of blade before the ridge begins is what has stopped me from buying it. I just don't like that feature on a blade, it looks too contrived. Reminds me of a wallhanger I guess.

Ricasso is correct. I was just browsing over at myArmoury at their antique sword albums, and it appears that bare ricasso really only started to appear in later years (16-17th century?) on certain baskethilts and rapiers. Ricasso(s?) definitely appear on earlier examples, but generally on fullered blades, and the fullers ran up through the ricasso. At least that's what I'm finding so far.

Interesting how lots of us seem to notice and focus on the same things. I too think the Verneuil is a very attractive sword, with the exception of the ricasso. That makes it a "not interested" for me too.

Thanks for the insight / observations / opinions folks.
Think I'll hold out for the CAS / Hanwei Tinker longsword...

I agree that ricasso puts me off also, that particular feature has ruined a lot of swords for me. I too am looking hard at the new Hanwei Tinker longsword.
As for fishtail pommels, that kept me from getting the KC teutonic for a while till it went on sale. Gotta say it's one of my favorites now.

RW, the Teutonic doesn't have a fishtail pommel, it has a key pommel, type U.
But I agree, fishtails are smexy.

Thank you, Rammy. I stand corrected. I feel better as I'm a bit put off by fish tho I do eat them for health reasons. KC needs to correct their description. Still a great sword tho, excellent cutter.

Whilst rummaging through my old MRL catalogs (yes I"m one that saves them) I came across this in cat. #83 2 different swords ...same name...guess they've maybe done it before... ? and the newer version....
