If I'm not mistaken, war hammers go back way earlier than the 14th c. They were just as effective on chainmail as they were on plate armor in later centuries. By the way...That's a NICE one you have there!

It looks like a hammer mattock like the one Bofur caries in The Hobbit, although instead of an adze on the back you have a pick. I like it

If this is an Adam Thiele war hammer, I believe it is based upon an Eastern European (Hungarian) find.
