A few weeks ago i started customizing a Great Sword of War. Alot of people like modern scabbards but i prefered a more rustic approach. I think it turned out quite well considering this was my first time. I even tried to blacken the blade fuller a bit. This is the somewhat finished photos.

Very nice! I love the partial wire-wrap. The scabbard looks a bit Viking-ish, but on a big, burly sword like that...it's fitting.

Thanks! I wanted it to look unique and different. Like a mercenary would make. "Use whats readily available" type scabbard.
Can anyone tell me what kind of pins ppl use to hold the wire wrap?

Some makers use a tiny dot of silver solder, sauter, whatever you want to call it...in lieu of a pin or nail.

I also heard of some drilling a hole into the handle, where it would normally be covered by the pommel, and chiseling a small groove towards outside that area, and poking in the end of the wire, epoxying it in place
Awesome customization though. I kinda wanna add fur to my scabbard now as well. Except for the fact that it is now joined with another scabbard, to make a duel sword holder

I've done that 'wire in the groove' thing before on some daggers. It works VERY well. Glad you brought that up, Djinn.
