Is there any way to get the old (gold underlay) version? Everywhere I've looked stocks only the new one.

Just curious, why do you want that version particularly? I have both and while I like them both the newer is much a better cutter and about a pound lighter. Much faster and better balanced with a smaller around handle and a thinner blade.

That's exactly why I want it: 'cuz it's bigger and not so sharp (as I understand from your review). I've been thinking of re-enact with my friends with a fantasy sword and that one looks more appropriate than the newer ver. Hope it makes sense

I see that does make sense but I would now have to caution that for reeactment type use it should be blunted more than it is. Its not as sharp as the newer one but it is still dangerously sharp. Good luck on your quest. I'll look around to see if I can find any more around.
