Was happy to pick this up today. Based on serial number it appears to be made in 1913. Got it a a great deal which makes it all the better.

Very nice! Is that part of the surplus sell off? Or ya just find it locally at the end of a rainbow?

Very nice! Is that part of the surplus sell off? Or ya just find it locally at the end of a rainbow? I manage a big box retail store that sells firearms on our website, used and new. A customer actually ordered this one and had it shipped to our store but had some financial issues occur so he had to back out. I've always wanted an old 1911 manufactured around 1911, figured this would be as close as I could get, and with my discount I got it at a nice price so I couldn't resist.

Gander used to have an amazing online selection, however, once the company was bought out by Marcus Lemonis and changed to Gander Outdoors, the online selection (as well as the in store selection) has plummeted. Any kind of sporting rifles, high capacity handguns... basically anything that isn't a hunting rifle or shotgun, has been cut vastly down, which is a big disappointment. Always sad to see people giving into the anti gun "fear agenda" that's so popular in our current social and political climate.

Yeah that totally stinks! I thought you were gonna say you worked at semprini’s Sporting Goods for a second. They not only stopped selling AR’s, but because they stabbed every Pro 2nd Amendment supporter in the back, companies like Mossberg and Hi Point pulled their products from semprini’s altogether!

That's good to hear. Dicks did this once before and pulled all their AR's off the shelf after the Sandy Hook shooting, and then once they thought the trouble blew over, they missed the revenue and started selling them again. I'm glad manufacturers are abandoning Dicks this time around.

That’d be like it they stopped selling handweights cause someone chose to go on a handweight bludgeoning spree in gyms across the country......well kind of 😏 It’d serve them right if if ALL the gun companies pulled their products from their shelves. They’d sorely miss that revenue, and I bet their political views would have a sudden and mysterious change VERY quickly!

The sad part is that they totally would stop selling those hand weights if that happened! Right?! It’s never people, just blame the object they use. Well in England where guns aren’t allowed at all, they have a “knife ban” in effect. So if you’re a chef by trade do you have to use plastic knives??? Banning inanimate objects solves nothing!

After the Columbine shooting, they banned black raincoats. Some politician blames school shootings on pornography, so assume that she will propose banning pornography--but not guns.
In a very old issue of "Guns" magazine, probably 1958 or 1959, they were already writing about "gun grabbers." The title of one article was "Today a rock might kill you." Ever know anyone killed with a rock?

Not to mention a lot of folks will no longer shop at Dicks because of such a weak kneed, braindead stance. Putting the blame on semiauto rifles with scary features and ten cent boxes with springs (STANDARD magazines) is neo-Marxist lunacy.

You mean like the buckets of rocks that some school teachers think will fend off an Active Shooter?! Those assault rocks are hardcore!! You can throw a breathtaking 1 per second.....that’s unheard of in modern rock combat 😉 I think schools should have roaming bands of archers to protect kids. Maybe set up a contingent of elves up in the trees outside schools!

Dicks not only stopped selling "ARs" they hired lobbyists to push for stricter gun control laws. Not particularly a gun person myself, but I believe in the rights granted us. I will never shop there again.

Yeah I heard about them buying anti-gun support, but again the fact that they still sell firearms at all is more than a little hypocritical on their part. So I guess only certain guns are “evil” while others still bring in lots of revenue 😱 😏 LOL
