I would be impressed if they could prove that someone actually used them for fighting. Otherwise it just shows that even back then there were people who just liked making things to try to impress people even if it's nonfunctional. A swordsmith who just likes to say " mine is bigger than yours ". Which I guess we all like to say that.

Is it bad that these are all my ideal sword sizes? It must be the Scottish blood in me, but I'd love to own a sword at least as tall as I am.

I think functionality would be a matter of weight and balance more than raw dimensions.
