So, I've been in the market for a pair of articulated Gothic gauntlets for a while, now. I was originally going to commission a pair from an armourer in the Ukraine, but they recently got back to me stating that they didn't have any mild steel to work with and my only option was to order the gauntlets in stainless or springsteel (neither of which I could realistically afford)

So, I'm back to square one. I'm becoming more and more tempted by off-the-shelf gauntlets. The specific pair I'm looking at right now are these, sold by Medieval Fight Club.

These gauntlets are pretty close to what I'm looking for, and the shop that's selling them lists them as being suitable for HEMA, HMB and SCA (although I'm not sure about those last two) as they're hardened mild steel with extra padding inside the gloves, which is a nice touch. I believe these gauntlets are made by "Lord of Battles", who list them as being 17 gauge mild steel, which I think is fairly appropriate for gauntlets of this design.

I recently started up HEMA myself, and I think it'd be really cool to have a pair like this to take in with me. And as a bonus, they're within my price range... More or less... At the earliest, I'll be able to buy these for myself as of next fortnight (assuming they stay on sale). However, before I commit to anything, I'd like to ask the fine people here if there are any other options that are in/around the price range that I could look at for getting gauntlets.

My requests being that they are fluted Gothic gauntlets with finger plates (as opposed to finger scales). It being from an Australian supplier would also be a bonus, as it will save greatly on shipping and probably overall cost.

So far, these seem to be the best deal I'll get. But I'm open to suggestions!

Medieval fight club don't sell Lord of battles. Not sure who makes their stuff though. There are these ones that are available within Australia

They've got a couple of types of gauntlets, but before you buy anything have a word with your hema instructor to check if they'll be suitable.

I may end up going to the Make Your Own shop when I start buying other plate parts, though. I like the look of their arm and leg harnesses and their prices are pretty good.

Did some digging on the gauntlets sold by MFC and DKA, and they're apparently made my Marshal Historical. Very similar pattern to the ones made by Lord of Battles, especially the fingertips, but still a different manufacturer. Also spoke to my HEMA instructor as well as the MFC folks about the gauntlets. While they'd work, they're not as protective as dedicated HEMA sparring gloves (and are also harder to maintain/more expensive) and could be restricted in tournaments due to the whole "punching somebody with a metal glove = bad" thing. Also, the weight of the gauntlets could be detrimental, seeing as they weigh over a kilogram each. But I'm still interested in buying them and practicing with them, perhaps just not during live sparring unless somebody wants to do historical armoured combat stuff.
