I spoke with a DSA rep not too long ago who said at the turn of the year they began implementing keyed and peened only pommels, no threading with a faux peen like before.
I've also seen some recent tear downs that have nicely shaped and sized tangs, with the purchaser rebuilding them and using them extensively and claims they hold up very well.

I just asked them about it too and here was their response:

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I may drop some cash down on one of their models that's being updated. Sometime this year. Seems like they're trying to improve at least.

Interesting. Specwise the blade itself isn't any longer than their 1handed viking swords. So it's just a different grip (and hopefully better/longer tang to go with it). I kind of expected it to be larger in general Still, that is definitely going on my wishlist!

This really looks quite cool, I imagine a two-handed grip with this style of blade geometry would really impress with chopping.

I was processing payment this morning, to buy the used 2 handed Oslo. I stopped so that I could call KOA to verify the blade length. Most have the 30/31 inch blade. This one supposely had the longer 3 foot (35 and 7/8 inches) blade version. I was going to reduce the grip from 10 inches to 8 inches. Got busy and could not call. Checked KOA around 11:00am and it was sold.

Speaking of blade lengths, I just spoke with Darksword Armory again, asking them to verify the blade length on the Guardlan Sword. They said the website will need to be corrected. The blade length is 30 inches rather than 32 inches. The overall length is correct at 40 inches. So I suppose I would describe this as more of a Viking bastard sword.

I went ahead and placed an order for one of these Guardlan swords.
DSA said they will provide me with photos of the hilt as it is being built. I will include these in a review of this sword.

Of course you all do know that Vikings never used two handed swords, except in the movies The 13th Warrior.

Yep. It's a popular fantasy sword design which I happen to like.

Didn't DSA have a different model called the Guardian, already? PS. Oh wait, this is the Guard-L-an... whatever that's supposed to mean.

I just asked them about it too and here was their response: A clarification here, if you might. Is the sword to be reviewed a random purchase from DSA, or a sword being sent by DSA specifically for review? I ask, as the DSA site picture must reflect what a random buyer is going to receive. The stage version with the five lobe pommel appears to have a threaded allen nut fastening.
