This may seem strange but for some reason the fun just isn't there for me anymore regarding my sword collection. I don't feel the pull I used to have to check KOA every day, every hour for a new deal or something I haven't seen before. That's part of why I just decided to completely sell off the vast majority of my collection. It is unfortunate, not sure why the drive and fun of buying, selling, collecting, and backyard cutting isn't there anymore.
I'm still going to be around, but I won't be buying that many swords for a long time. Maybe the fun and drive will return later in the year when new stuff on the production market comes out, but for now I'm going to focus on a new frontier I haven't explored before.

That happens and not only with swords.

Sorry to hear that at the end of the day though, its only a hobby. Do whatever makes you happy, life's to short for anything else.

In my experience that just means it's time to take a break or to change up your collection like I did last year, the urge will eventually return

Buying and cutting are great, but in my experience the most fun to be had is from FIGHTING. You should try HEMA. The first hit is always free ;-) There's also the JSA and a growing community of martial Chinese sword enthusiasts. Not to mention north African, Persian, etc. It's the most interesting time to get involved in historical sword work.

My hobby priorities ebb and flow more than any tide. I haven't bought a sword in probably over a year, maybe two? I still check the same places daily, to see what's new or if any affordable antiques catch my eye. Still mad about a yatagan I let get away last month or so...
Right now I'm off buying things altogether while I try to get my finances in order following my accident back in the spring. Gotta get my debt under control and pay down some things, then maybe I'll start collecting something again. May or may not be swords at that point. I need a new bike...

I haven't bought a new sword in ages, and likely won't for a few ages more to come. At this point, I am working on obtaining armour. I feel that with 6 swords or so, it is a wiser decision to get different kinds of gear. Hell, I still need a spear.
I would recommend looking into other aspects of your hobby, as others suggested. What made you interested in swords?

Djinn---You want a badass spear? Go for the Windlass long-bladed hewing spear and a butt-cap on a short shaft. Awesome weapon.

It's burnout. Can happen to anybody and anything. Wake up one day and find a thing you were obsessing about only yesterday isn't that fascinating. Best way I've found to fight it is to attack from multiple angles - I find it's easier to stick with something when it scratches multiple itches. Cutting gets boring I focus on form, that starts getting stale I look at the culture, then sieze on a specific technical nuance, etc. Shifting the area of focus can keep the mind engaged and you can come back around and things seem fresh again.
If it just flat out isn't your thing anymore that's cool. Find what is. Best of luck.

For a couple of months I went dead and even sold a couple of my pieces...but now it's back. I once again find myself refreshing auction pages every hour or so, and even made a return to the forums, kinda. So, dont worry, it prolly is just a temporary burnout. Either way have fun in whatever new hobbies you decide to engage in!

I have periods like that where I lose interest. Sometimes they last for a couple months and sometimes a year or longer. I eventually get back in the groove again. All hobbies are like that.

At one point in life, I was absolutely consumed by early model Ford Mustangs. I've had a '65 fastback, done up as a Shelby GT-350 in candy apple red with white stripes, two '66 coupes, a '68 coupe, a '72 Grande' coupe, and a '99 GT. I would not be seen in ANYTHING that didn't have a pony in the front grill. I haven't had a Mustang in years...but the 2018 GT is way up there towards making me even poorer than I am now. The wants come and go, but they never really leave for good. When something new and badass comes out, you'll get sweaty palms again.

What made you interested in swords? I find armour fascinating and enjoy it about as much as I do weapons. In fact my last three of four purchases were armour related. The last was a Viking tunic and not armour. It was on MRL’s DoD and I got impulsive. We had a cool snap and I was wearing a 20+ year old sweat shirt that was stained by my banana trees and the zipper had stopped working years ago. It’s my first tunic and I like it to the extent I am considering others.

I tend to go through phases. I'll bounce between hobbies, and the urge will eventually return for one or the other. It happens but, even if it doesn't return, good luck in future interests! And if any of those interests involve straight razors or tobacco pipes, I'll be right there with you!

Smokin' pipes? Here's one for ya, pattyb. Genuine Texas Whitetail deer antler with a soapstone bowl. I've turned down $250 for it at Scarborough Faire Ren Fest. Made it myself...and the deer made EXCELLENT venison chili.

Maybe it won't last long, it was probably a by product of me buying and selling a lot in the span of a month.
It probably won't last long, I can already feel the call back to it.
