My loving wife got me a mini-forge...just the right size for making RR spike knives, etc. Also, a bottle of good scotch. I'll uncork that when she gets home from Atlanta today. I also got a new scar on my hand from playing too foolishly with my Cold Steel Gladius. Damn, that thing's sharp.

I am jealous of your entire Xmas haul Hahaha, yeah, it was pretty sweet. I also wound up buying the original Final Fantasy 7 and 9 for the PS4. They were pretty steeply discounted from their already fairly low prices so I had to do it.

My only sword-related Christmas present was a generic (Falcon Tactical? Wat?) karambit. It's awfully large for a karambit, and not really sharp at all - with an okay point on it. Whatever, it's fine - just got a new totally-overkill sword-box opener.

I got a new PC monitor, a nice leather laptop bag, a copy of Ludwigs "The Flower of Battle" and a few practical things I'd been needing.

Westworld tv series on dvd. Not swords but many big bowie knives. And my black friday order came with delay just before christmas, so I'll count it too. CS Espada XL G10 black, another big bowie knife, but as a folder.

Specifically, didn't received anything yet (we had a gift exchange at my parent's, doesn't count), wife says it is late in being delivered, though with her mysterious airs it seems I may be something sword related, who knows lol. It's only being fair though, since her own gift arrived 2 days late too - I got her a folded katana on a red and black theme (will do a review later) and she screamed like a little girl when she saw it. o7

My wife sold off some stocks in a Wisconsin power company---$6,000 worth. YESSSSS! But, taxes and insurance are due. Oh well, we had rather have a house and a legal car than extra money to blow on stuff we don't need.

I got Sword of the Stranger on DVD (which I was super freaking excited about), The Archaeology of Weapons book and The Book of Five Rings. Also a neat sword-related t-shirt, a gift card and various other little anime-related things (from my sister). Sword of the Stranger is a quality film. I love that one.

Got a Hanwei Basket Hilt Broadsword. A bit blade heavy, but the fit and finish on mine was superb. Love it.

Is the blade heavyness an issue? Do you think you could fight with it for a while if you had to? It's a really gorgeous sword. The fit and finish were awesome! It does earn that reputation for blade heaviness though. It's really only super noticeable to me on a horizontal swing. I'm not super strong, so if you have normal muscles and not my puny arms you could certainly fight with it. It IS great on the thrust though! KOA has a great video of it being used to cut. The employee in the video seems to have no trouble at all. I will say that, even when a sword feels heavy when I'm holding it "dead," a blade feels much more lively in motion when I'm cutting. I don't know if it's the adrenaline or the act of actually using it bring out the best in the blade. Long story short, it's blade heavy but not crowbar heavy and could be used to battle for a while! If you lived in the area, you could certainly come try it out on some bottles.
