Darkness rises, and light to meet it...
AND SNOKE MEETS FLOOR! I spent the past two years furiously researching, looking for clues, watching every lore video and snippet I could find in order to understand how Snoke built the first order from the ashes of the Empire, trying to discover who or what he truly was and his motivations. Last night as his bisected corpse was the scene of a furious battle between the Praetorian guards, Rey, and Kylo Ren my jaw was on the floor.
I mean, I expected him to be hurt, maimed, or injured by the lightsaber...but my expectations were dashed as he was cut in half by Anakin's lightsaber. I was just flabbergasted. BUT IN A GOOD WAY! They took my expectations and flipped them, and I was so pleasantly surprised.

Feel free to post in here and talk about what you liked to didn't like about the movie. I personally loved it.

Feeling lonesome? Ok, I can help without any knowledge: Han Solo doesn't resurrect!

How are the lightsaber battles? And why do you care about anything else?

It was a very average experience.

How are the lightsaber battles? And why do you care about anything else? Choreography was very nice. Rough and tumble is the term of the day.

How are the lightsaber battles? And why do you care about anything else? I hope a bit faster than last time (but not less HEMA)!

If not for finn's plan, most of the resistance would have escaped to the rebel base and survived... that was the bit that annoyed me a fair bit. Strange story telling choice imo

I sat watching it feeling like I was in some sort of nightmare, like the whole thing was some sort of sick joke. It should be burned with fire and rewritten properly. Just can't believe it got made. BOO!!

It...It really wasn't very good. Like, at all. I loved 4 5 and most of 6, thought 1 2 and 3 were average popcorn movies, hated 7, thought rogue one was rather shoddily made but had potential, but this was even worse than 7. 7 was a total knockoff of 4, but at least it was a mostly well made knockoff. This, I just want to forget about this one.

I'm rapidly seeing, judging by the reviews, that our beloved Disney has become a bunch of money-hungry, soul-stealing corporate vampires. Walt just turned over in his grave.

Well, Walt was always a bit of a money hungry jerk, but at least when he was in control they made quality work with real soul. Disney now is all of his greed but none of his vision.

I think Hollywood has simply run out of creativity. Most of the stuff they produce now is a remake of a film that was already made, or a continuation of an old saga, or a film based off a book. Nothing original, really. Modern movies, as a whole, feel soulless to me - dazzling visuals inter-spaced with witty dialog, and nothing more. I feel more like I'm watching a fireworks display or magic show than a real movie with plot, character, and depth.

I think one of the better sci-fi flicks I've seen in recent years was 'Avatar'....I really liked that one, just because it was so...different.

it was ok, idk why snoke just got dropped so easily, hopefully he comes back in the next film or it was just pointless for him to even have been in the movies

I think one of the better sci-fi flicks I've seen in recent years was 'Avatar'....I really liked that one, just because it was so...different. I thought it was fairly good - not anywhere near deserving of the almost insane level of hype it got, but still fairly well done. A recent one that I actually liked was Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I enjoyed others in the Marvel movie series too, but they're kind of hit and miss IMHO.

J. Abrams put it on with Episode 7. A sort of directors war, haha. "Who's this dumb 'Snoke'? Meh, let's just cut him in half and get him out of the story". What I feel like Star Wars has now become is a play-toy for the rich and famous - everyone wants a go at remaking Star Wars in their image. A lot of the directors have talked about being Star Wars fans as kids, and I think there's a lot of fantasies getting lived out with the new movies.

The biggest thing it had going for it was that the villains had real presence and were a real threat, unlike almost every marvel movie. Avatar was extremely entertaining. The special effects were out of this world. The plot, however, had already been told countless times before. While I didn't think the script was anything to write home about, clearly an immense amount of love was put into the Pandorapedia, which is still the most detailed backstory database I have ever encountered. Every question not answered in the movie was in there, everything from why the RDA helicopters were so poor at fighting aerial combatants to the origins of the RDA to character backstories.
