Something new to my collection. A Baikal mp221 45/70 double rifle that I intend to use on an upcoming buffalo hunt. So far I'm fairly impressed with what is ultimately a very cheap double rifle

i had the 30-06 version. was nice and accurate but the break action was so tight you had to put it over your knee to open it far enough to eject the rounds

This one opens with a flick of the wrist, but it needs a lot more playing with before I'd say its super accurate. Although, for what it is and what I'll use it for its actually more than accurate enough

yeah double rifles were meant for close up anyway. if its good at 100 yards its good enough for its intended purpose.

Chucked a scope on it today for a little regulation work. The target is of 2 sets with a regulation adjustment between. As you can see the right barrel was fine but the left barrel moved a lot. I'm sure I moved it 2 clicks to make it hit that far right so I moved it one click back. And of course I'd run out of ammo by that stage

Lol. Doesn't help when I'm also tinkering with handloads with it.
