Tonight I got the bug, a new bug I have rarely felt until now, THE FINISHING BUG! Went out and sort of organised things in the garage a bit and got to playin'. 3rd time I have ever made a guard on any blade and IMO it is coming out pretty good! I chain drilled the rough hole, then chiseled out the webs and started filing. I never knew it could be so much fun . Plus, can't let brenno get all the girls around here . overall shot end detail guard with tang

I like the styling of the guard Sam, keep us posted on it. It is fun isn't it.

That's pretty slick Sam. Nice shape.

I find finishing really boring, but it has to be done. I hate having a half finished project kicking around. I have a round punch I was halfway through forging just sitting there and it is bugging the royal hell out of me.
Lovely guard. It is an interesting combination with that blade of yours. Is the sword one we have seen already, by the way? I don't quite recognise it.

Thanks guys!
I used to be the same way Matt, but SHEEEEEIT it get's old after awhile, and you get ravenous to finish things and not because you HAVE to because you WANT to.
This is an old blade I had from when I worked with John Lundemo.

What exactly did you work with him on?
He's a top blademaker, so I have heard. Bet you learned some fantastic tricks. What was it like?

Nice solid tang too. Are you going to add a knuckle bow?

Maz, OH NO hehe. That cutlass-y blade in the other thread has the d guard , this one is just going to have the guard it has now, nothing secondary or anything.

It's a pretty sweet looking guard, to be frank. I'd love to see something like that on a type X. Looking forward to more pictures.
