Han Jian -- Chinese Han Dynasty (~200 BC - 200 AD) double edge sword is the last double edge sword to be used by solders in the battlefield as their main weapon. Han Jian is longer, slimmer and lighter than later dynasty sword, as is considered by many as the golden age of Chinese double edge sword. Attached is a sample of an 2000 year old chinese iron armer excavated from a noble's tomb and video of a historically correct armer piercing Han Jian. Attachments:

I would expect them to be used on armpits, necks, faces, groins, and other more weakly armored areas. A full thrust to an armored chest is always going to be an uphill struggle, and tactically unwise in most cases. Specifically because it forces you to commit a lot of strength to the attack making you more vulnerable to deflection--something key to the marial jian system I've seen.

Yeah, movies aside, thrusting at an armored chest is like trying to charge head first through a wall when the door and several windows are all right there.
