I believe the basket is too large to be considered perfectly historically accurate (if that sort of thing bothers you). That aside, I've been very tempted to get one... It is, IMO, one of the best looking swords offered by Windlass.

It is, IMO, one of the best looking swords offered by Windlass. It does bother me but really handling as close to the originals as possible is more important than basket hilt size. But thank you for pointing it out! And maybe I can wait around until it becomes deal of the day too.

It's worth the money. Good broadsword. Far as I know it's the least expensive and is a functional sturdy cutting blade. You can look at DelTin's schiavona and it's obvious that the circular Windlass hilts ain't Schiavona's; which are conical. ( I own an older version of this Windlass. I don't want to spend the money for a more correct one. )
