Garden gloves do squat. I've tried.
Thick leather gloves are my choice - usually welder gloves with black leather riding gloves underneath.

Ah welder's gloves...how I do love thee. Yeah I use mine for everything . Just not SCA combat. Although those crt100 gloves look interesting. Wonder if they will work for SCA combat...humm.

They're designed to protect your hand from a mob wielding baseball bats, crowbars and the like... even the SCA isn't that brutal...

well the main thing is the wrist protection. If the padding is stiff enough far enough.

I've never once had a strike on the wrist do anything other than make me say 'Owee'. It's the fingers and hands that are in danger of serious injury.
The wrist, at least, *my* wrists, are thick enough that even a solid hit with a waster doesn't do much other than give it red spots.

Wrist might be big, but the bones in em sure ain't. As for these for waster training, I wouldn't have any issue using these with wasters...but you STOP on contact with a waster instead of trying to go THROUGH the target. Your REALLY under-estimating how much more dangerous this makes things. I think I'll get a set when I need new hand protection though and see if they work. If they don't, I can use em for other things anyways .
