It's all Greek to me!
But other functional short swords will do too.

I like the 18th to 19th century, with a dash of 17th century as well, but that's only because I like broadswords.

I don't think there's a particular time period (or sword type) I don't like. The modern era's fairly nice in many ways - I also like Medieval Japan, 14th century Europe, 16th century Europe, Europe in the Early Middle Ages, Classical Rome, various places in the Bronze Age, the Middle East from about AD 700-1000, 18th century Europe, Pre-Columbian America, and... well, you get the idea.

I am a big proponent of the Rapier and Scottish Basket Hilt. so around 1450-1750 for me I am trying to get more into swords in the period of the American Revolution. I LOVE medieval/15th century arming swords. Really my "dream" sword is probably the Albion burgundian or a really beautiful messer. But at my university we're doing a Colonial Christmas with costumes and readings of period stuff and it's really getting me interested in swords of the period. I also want to learn more about 16/17th century swords as some peoples above mentioned. They're really interesting. Preferably English back/broadsword.

18-19th Century Europe, particularly Cavalry swords/sabers. So, your sleeping in your obscenely splendid porcupine like man cave and you hear a bump in the night. Without saying firearm, cell phone, closest blade to you, etc..., which specimen do you reach for to deal with threat? I'd probably be killed while standing there trying to decide.

I recently started playing Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword, and I realised how much I adore the blades of the 17th Century. Polish sabres, basket hilt broadswords, militarized rapiers, polearms galore... There's a big variety.

1. With all the alarms armed, I'd best make sure it isn't the cat wanting to go out or an early breakfast.
2. For none of the above, how bout my Officer's Garde de Bataille pallasche married with my CS 1796LC.

18-19th Century Europe, particularly Cavalry swords/sabers. Geez Dave I hope you don't live in a tornado area, would hate to see what would be left of you after. Also hope you're happily married because the odds of getting a date into that bed are not good.

I would have to say crusader/medieval era, as it was during these times nations were in the process of being forged, and ancient Rome, as it held sway over the greatest empire ever, tho greatest doesn't necessarily mean best

He should sell tickets for tours!

Verity, that's why I only have one sword hanging in my bedroom. Than again have you ever tried to explain to a new date why you have a brass swivel gun in your bedroom. I'm a lonely guy. Just tell her it's a surprise for the monster in the wardrobe.
