Basically what the title says. I appreciate that this forum doesn't get sucked into petty interpersonal squabbles like what I see in some Facebook groups. I really do.
I feel this partially is because any no brain idiot can make a Facebook account, but it actually takes a level of competency to make an account for this forum. This keeps people who would otherwise be nonsense spewing blabbermouths out of here.
And the highest level of disagreement or debate here was just that...debating or disagreeing, not personally attacking or being a rude meatbag.
I just definitely appreciate the professional atmosphere of this forum.
That is all (end rant)

We appreciate that. I wish I could say that it never happened around here, as sometimes it does and sometimes on a fairly large scale, but we try to keep it to a minimum. I think that most of the forums/pages around have a lot good going for them, with one or two that I actually like a lot, but I don't personally feel comfortable in some of them because they are either too formal or too informal or specialized. So this is the one that I spend most of my time in and effort on. Being a moderator on here is a good gig too, as we have a real good crop of folks to look after. I like this place too, and I'm pretty proud of it and the people in it.

Same here. I felt comfortable here before I even started posting; that's thanks to the members and mods for creating such an atmosphere. There are plenty of other places I keep an eye on, but this is where I always come first and last.
I was online when the internet was called bulletin boards, and on forums when they were called usenet. I don't mind progress, and I've seen every type of social and messaging network messed up by idiots. Nowhere is immune. The newer trend of 'social networking' seems something different to me though, and I've learned it's better avoided. That, and I just don't like the absolute opposite of privacy. I actually think that such social network places thrive on the arguments. The trolls are a benefit to the business because it creates more traffic and more chance to sell advertising.
I'm glad we still have places like this to come for a civilized chat.

I agree with all of the above. Even when there ARE disagreements, it's never to a high degree of arsehollery. Cool heads and cool tempers, and not nearly as much "I know everything about XYZ and ABC so screw you lol" like as on certain Facebook groups.

I have no idea what the facebook page is like. And for that, I am thankful

I like it here too. Everyone seems helpful and informative, and I make a point of checking in a couple of times a day

Yep...I like it here also. Some of the 'other' sword forums get a little too stuffy for me at times. I mean, really, why get so uptight about things? If you can't have some fun with it, why do it? This forum feels more like family and good neighbors. ....Chris

I stay away from FB sword sites. Just amazing what people will post on them.

I stay away from FB altogether. I don't feel the need to post something every time I have a good poop, and I don't really care to hear about anyone else's. Peoples gross food recipes and pictures of ugly babies. .....Chris

Love SBG. Not on as much as I used to be (Nihonto bug bit hard) but always stop by every day a lot to see what is going on.
Agree 100%, this board is not snobby nor does it pass judgement on what someone likes or chooses to pursue. Lot's of great people and you will not get better help with a question anywhere else.

I noticed that too. It's refreshing to see since the last forum I frequented was notorious for its toxicity. But that was a video game forum where the average age was 19, so trollish behavior was to be expected. Here though people are nice, welcoming and friendly while also being smart and genuinely helpful. I've only been here a little less than a week but I like it already.
