Any experience with their blanks as opposed to say Hanwei? I'm eyeing their rapier blank. They are out of Australia. Looks like EN45 tempered to 50 RhC.
Thoughts?

Haven't seen one of their rapier blanks. Have a couple of their bastard sword blunt blanks, and a sabre blank. The sabre blank tapers in thickness from about 4.3mm to 3.8mm. The bastards have the usual Indian diamond-section with fuller and no taper in thickness, giving a blade that becomes thicker with the transition from the fuller to the diamond-section tip.
I mounted a bastard blank, and my son had fun hitting things (bottle and logs hung with rope) and destroying them when he was little. The sword survived. Old blade, and I think shorter than their current longsword blank.
The bastard blunts were made for the steel-on-steel re-enactment mobs, but I never tried it against steel. Don't know who the target market is for their rapier blanks.

You could always send them an email with any questions you had. They give honest answers about what their stuff can and can't do.

I have their "trooper" sword blank (facsimile of the beefier pre-war British P1897s... they don't make them like they used to anymore...)
My impressions are favourable:
-The tang is big and sturdy (if anything it's a bit TOO big necessitating extra work to fit it to a grip), and I am impressed with the quality of the machining- very consistent and professional. The M8 metric (8mm) thread they use is larger than the "standard" size threading you find on most tangs (most are around 6mm IIRC). I would have no questions about durability (unlike other *hem* manufacturers....)
-Temper is good- my blade is stiff as a needle.
-Cannot comment on the hardness as I have not tested it. However from my experiences dealing with them I would be inclined to take their word
-The edges are very well done- however this is a thrusting design so my standards for secondary bevels are much lower here.
I have not had a Hanwei "sharp" rapier blank; however their blunt sparring blanks are hilariously floppy and whippy. Great from a safety standpoint but not from a handling one.
As Scot said: these guys are very earnest and straightforward so just ask if you have any questions or wish to see additional images. Every time I order from them the items are exactly as they appear on the website; no deceptive photography tricks, no surprises, etc. They seem committed to slowly earning themselves a spot in the sword market by providing honest good service rather than taking silly shortcuts.
