Every pirate needs a brace of boarding pistols! I know this is a long shot (ha-ha) but has anyone handled the double barrel flintlock pistol that Military Heritage sell? Or any of their almost-fireable flintlock pistols for that matter. www.militaryheritage.com/pistol16.htmI guess they are made in India, and I'm not bothered about the seller I linked (I read some negative comments here). Some UK sellers list them as well but need to order them on demand I think, so I can't just get to see one. I'm not interested in them actually firing (no FAC here so can't do that). They do not have the vent drilled but supposedly only need it drilling to be fully functional BP pistols. I'm more interested in how well built and, to an extent, accurate reproductions they are. I tend to think that if they are fully functional, they can't be too bad. I hope!

I have the highland officer, the queen Anne and a blunderbus and all have been reliable and good shooters of superior quality.

That's great to hear, thank you! It gives me a bit of confidence that the double barrel might be decent too. I won't hold you responsible if not Wish I could actually shoot them, but such is life.

Aye, UK, pronounced yuck as far as I'm concerned I was just getting into shooting (just old enough for a ticket) when the big firearms bans came in. Mostly lost interest in what little was left for us to own. While I can't shoot the pistol, I don't like things that aren't 'real'. A cheap, non-functioning replica wouldn't satisfy me and I can't afford an antique, so this range of reproductions looks to be the answer. I'll contact the UK sellers next week to see if they can get me one. Then I just need to sell some kit to fund it. With the vent not drilled, we can own these with no problems (yet). We can even own a genuine antique one without a firearms certificate, as long as we don't intend to fire it. We can't buy a replica modern firearm without being a stage production company or the like, but can own a visually identical 'replica' that is made as a firing air weapon. Silly laws

I remember that some of us in the Ren/Military boards ordered items from MilitaryHeritage. They were fairly reliable 4-5 years ago but they went through a period where communication (and orders) would be slow and eventually they stopped replying to any and all attempts to establish communication.
This was maybe 2 years ago (and to my knowledge none of us sword people ever tried contacting them again) but perhaps they went through a tumultuous period and they're back on their feet now. In any case, please let us know how the deal goes down!
An alternate Canadian supplier is "Historical Twist Designs". They carry somewhat similar inventory of swords as MilitaryHeritage and I know they also carry firearms (which I have not examined yet). Could be an alternative.
