did some rudimentary sketches for some dwarvern weapons top a serpentine mace, the coils would be the bulges around the mace head, middle a dragon head warhammer (still gotta have dwarvern warhammers even if they are stone ) and bottom a potential design for a "dwarf steel" sword has a knapped steel blade with a handle based around the handle of a maquetal, guard and ring could be further embellished or perhaps brass or something similar, on a side note i thought perhaps due to the dwarvern methodology of metal extraction from mageglass perhaps the blades still have particles of glass in the steel, this may make them better or worse than regular steel blades.

Nice work freq, I am looking forward to adding the Dwarvern Aztec civilization to the world. It makes a lot of sense that gold loving Dwarves would, if left to their own devices, take on an Aztec Aspect.. Anyway, just wanted to make a quick update as there has just been a major announcement regarding the project here in the news and announcements section. Round 1 Part 2 = 3 more winners, and two more sword makers join the project..! So when you guys get a minute, be sure to check out the new winners from the original competition entries and welcome our two new US based sword makers who have joined the fray..! MUCH more coming, so just when it looks like things are slowing down, the truth is behind the scenes we are racing ahead at breakneck speed..! - Paul

found a few more ideas re dwarvern culture, "mageglass" blades dwarf made "mageglass" urn potential style of the dwarvern settlement also thought perhaps the priests of the dwarvern culture have spells that allow then to mold the "mageglass" in ways that other cultures cant allowing them to make items that other cultures cant, potentially leading to conflict/trade, what if the dwarves can mold red hot "mageglass" like a potter sculpts clay but only for a certain time and in certain ways and exceeding this time destroys the item

did a more in depth sketch for a dwarf sword this one has a triceratopsian head pommel (who knows what lurks in the dwarvern jungles) and a glass/enamel snake inlay in the guard, with a double spiral wrap over wood handle, wanted to go more colorful to reflect the culture,i would make the guard and head brass, design would also give the pommel offensive capability, and has the knapped steel dwarf blade on it

Dwarf Aztech pyramids might be not so high (haha!) but the rest of your ideas are really great!

Any news from BCI? I'm excited to see where they take these designs No pics yet, but they are working on the prototypes all at once. Mr De Guzman is a bit picky so he did not want to release any pics until he is certain the designs are on the right track. I will update again soon - made a LOT of progress on the main site, but have been slowed down a bit from a nasty toothache that ended with getting two molars ripped out from the bone a day ago and am still feeling a bit under the weather.. (tooth pain really is 'special')..

A stubbed toe or pulled shoulder you can muscle through, but it's hard to ignore a hurt so close to your thinker. Looking forward to the website though.

been thinking on this lately; if you come from a short lived culture eg humans your culture would evolve rapidly in regard to fashion, technology etc, but if you come from a long lived culture eg dwarves or elves it would take a long time for your culture to change (i think) since your elders are probably still going to be major influences on your society for hundreds of years, imagine having to wait several hundred years just to get your shot at changing things, and due to the length of your life span you arnt going to change things with as much spontaneity as a more rapidly aging population would as there would be less frenetic need to do things" now", would make for some interesting cross cultural interactions, what a human thinks of as fast and what an elf thinks of as fast might be two vastly differing time scales, some good potential for storied politics here i think
