OVERVIEW: Based roughly on historical Ireland, Tuath De exists as an allied city state to the Empire and was one of its earliest allied states. It was also the source of the first Centaur Cavalry unit and the Centaurs still occupy the plains West of the Sacred Grove. The people of Tuath De are Druidic worshippers of the moon godess Danu and are smaller and frailer in appearance than their Southern neigbours. The reason for this is that the vast majority of the people of Tuath De have some wood elf blood, and it is not uncommon for a child born of human parents to be half elven (such as their current High King, who has been on the throne for 120 years).. NAMED AREAS THE SACRED GROVE: A magical, elfin grove that is home to the ancient Nymph Queen. The Nymph queen allows the High King to handle day to day ruling of the Kingdom, but he is ultimately her puppet. WHISPERING WOODS: A sprawling and highly magical forest sacred to the Druids. BLACKBERRY WOODS: Despite its innocous name, Blackberry Woods is a no go zone and is haunted by the twisted spirit of the Nymph Queens half sister. GALBURY CASTLE: Believed to be unassailable, Galbury castle is the nominal capital of Tuath De. SALTWOOD: The only surviving coastal town, it is defended from the Northmen by the Imperial Navy and is a major export center of salt. WOOD ELVES: An autonomous region entirely inhabited by various Wood elf tribes. Relations with the Kingdom are excellent. DARKHILL KEEP: Also a naval base for Imperial ships defending against pirates and Northmen raiding parties. ASHEN COVE: Was the location of the old capital, destroyed by Northmen raiders over 700 years ago.. SHAMBLE ISLAND: Was once a small Kingdom, but was completely destroyed by the Northmen and is now overrun with Kobolds.

Man, I really love this concept. Amazing ideas paul!
I have an extra suggestion to tag unto the existing ideas. What if Tuatha have very long life spans, but as a result, it takes them an awefully long time to become adults, so their breeding and birthing rates are incredibly slow? So once a lot of them are killed, the rest need to hide in like... Magical dimensional layers until they can regain their numbers after hundreds of years.
This way it can sometimes seem like they have been extincted, only to be hiding in an exact copy of our world, but still aware of people entering the forest. Kinda like a shadow biosphere, or another frequency of the exact same place. Alive and present, yet unseen.
Of course this doesn't have to apply to all. It could have varying degrees. Maybe the ones who are seen closest to Danu are silver haired? As it looks like the moon to them
Another suggestion is that they used their swords in a roman phlanx type way, with a large shield, using formation and tactic to compensate for their frail bodies.
Of course none of these ideas need to be used if it doesnt fit with the narrative
Anyway, I am proud of what this place has become

Maybe the current occupants descend from the original tuatha, who were said to have silver hair

I have posted her in other threads, but I have drawn my rough draft for a half breed tuath wood elf huntress. I am not sure if it was planned to make any female leads, but it was what I chose to do for my first submission haha. She is in the Sword of Danu threads and the Character backstory thread. Better pictures to come in the future

Excellent idea on the Tuatha De needing to retreat every now and again. Perhaps Galbury Castle has magical properties and is the place they retreat to when hard pressed by external enemies.
The shield and shortsword fighting style is excellent - I almost have a vision of these diminutive, basically peaceful people attempting to imitate the fighting style of the Imperial Army..
So yes, let us make the people of Tuath De silver haired, very slight of build and long lived. Within their society there could be people who are closer to normal humans but have blond or red hair and the Tuath themselves are a special kind of half elf - perhaps a mix of Fey and human blood in varying degrees engineered over millennia by the Nymph Queen..
I figure that halflings should be present in Tuath De too - it is essentially an ancient, peaceful land that has had to put up with centuries of invasions from the Northmen.. (though they NEVER venture close to Blackberry Woods - when laying waste to the nearby ruin centuries ago an entire raiding party was almost wiped out overnight by the furious spirit of the Nymph Queens Banshee half sister.. So the lands immediately north, while you would think vulnerable, are left alone in peace)..

I figured while they are typically more frail, that due to a noble upbringing, this particular one was able to become stronger than most in his place. His stats are in the character building area
Though if you look at his head size in relation to body size, plus his height, it becomes apparent he isn't that built haha
I agree about halflings. Many of them can be shorter than the characters i have drawn, some as short as 4 or 3 feet in height. Glad you like the ideas

Reminds me of a friend I used to DM/GM for back in the day. He almost always picked elven characters with high strength but deceptively frail build. He described his character as much stronger than he looks, and his muscles, while not big, are rock hard and with training and fluid, optimized movement, unlocks more of his innate strength than what most humans can access.
Part of a characters strength could also be adrenal in nature. When hard pressed, a 5' 100lbs woman can find the strength to lift up a car if their child is trapped underneath it. Maybe this character is similar, mild mannered but when enraged becomes almost preternaturally strong.

Tauth De has been consolidated and added to the dedicated site - thread locked.
