Hopefully folk save to a drive. Cloud opportunities abound. Google Drive allows 15gb iirc. You can hot link images from Google Drive using a tool sites.google.com/site/gdocs2direct/One of the hosting and bandwidth problems have been headed for a crash for many years. A good many have no idea they are uploading and sharing ridiculously large images. Most cameras have settings most have no idea exist. I have been preaching on a soapbox since the 1990s and at this point can really only try to offer support and sympathy. I have lost hosting a few times in the past and it sucks but we suck it up and move on. Another tool, mostly ignored. Whatever <shrug> www.shrinkpictures.com/ <--that could actually be written into the attachment function here. Automatic compression </shrug> Imgur will fail in time and only offers so much for free. Forums, as noted, have space issues and bandwidth issues of their own. Back up your work. Personal cloud drives about the best way to host images. The problem is stability of servers that get used.

Works, and scottish broadswords really look better without Santa's hat inside.

I am a member of another forum and that forum had an account with Photobucket allowing the members to use that account to post to the forum rather than opening a personal account. Photobucket cancelled that account and all photos were lost. As for my personal account, I stopped using it long ago. They dropped some of my photos, never more to be seen.

Well, so far I find Imgur easier to use, and MUCH more user friendly than Photo-Puke-It. It runs faster overall, images upload faster, it's easier to get and copy the links, and my Ad-Block extension is only blocking three ads---as opposed to an average of 50 ads on Photo-Puke-It. Fixed the pics in my thread about the sickle swords I made. One down, a shite-ton to go...

Does anyone use Amazon's Prime Photos?

I dunno, seems like mine still work and I have free service so not paying anything. But I don't have many pics in there.

I have photobucket lowest account had to get it because of the number of pictures I do. It's ad free and is still working for me. Imgur runs slower for me. I'll stick to photobucket until they screw me over too.

Well that pretty much does it for me posting anything here. All my old posts are destroyed. No way I'm going to move old pics over to some other host. Came here to post on the forge I just finished building. F that now.

I got the email from photobucket. Since I have all my pictures on my HDD (and two backups), I deleted everything off photobucket. It's fortunate I hadn't put any links to pictures there here (like I have done on some other sites).
Photobucket is a ghost of its former self so it's not a big loss.

Photobucket finally killed my Avatar as of yesterday, but last I checked my embedded pictures were still okay. Not going to concern myself overly about finding new hosting and fixing all the links, as most threads I have photos in are a year or more old and thus irrelevant.
In the future, I'll probably check my file sizes a little more strictly and just use the forum's own attachment system until we have another mass clearing of those files. I very seldom share photos, anyway, so it still hasn't hurt my feelings.

You could actually upload it directly to the website if you resize it

imgur is about to crash
I would honestly suggest folk look at other cloud solutions (or pay for the pay for play sites).

I just discovered that I can't access my video files on Photobucket anymore. Some of those I only have on Photobucket. That sucks.
This basically means I'll have to pay at least one month of the premium service just to be able to download my own videos to a local drive. Yes, I cannot download my own video files from my own Photobucket account. I just get a ten-second video of the same image that's replaced everybody's embeds.
Still, I very seldom share photos online. When I share them there I use the attachment function. I'm in no rush to find new hosting as it's all entirely irrelevant, but the simple fact that I can't even see my own videos without paying an outrageous fee infuriates me.
Meanwhile, I just checked the Forged in SBG thrusting round and the photos there still work.

All my reviews are fixed now, and I've consolidated my work and my collection into new threads, using Imgur. It wasn't too time consuming, as Imgur runs MUCH faster. So far, so good. Also, keep in mind, I'm using an ancient PC---a 2003 Gateway with a Celeron processor and a 40 gig hard drive...

Dammit! It looks like Photobucket did it to me too - all of my images from that hosting site have been co-opted by I guess I'm going to have to find a different hosting service and redo as many of my posts on here as possible before the school year starts in a few weeks. GRRRRRR!!!!
