Hi guys, New to this forum so please be gentle with me! Recently purchased my first blade which I use for drawing and cutting practice. I know it's not an ancient blade by any means, and my own rough attempts at translating the tang puts it around 1938-1939. I've also managed to translate the last character of the swordsmiths name which I believe to be HIDE. I've taken some photographs of the blade, which is currently in full polish to see the hamon and boshi, which are very distinct and active. The photographs have been tweaked very slightly to try and highlight the finger details to be seen on the blade (the lighting wasn't great at the time I took the pictures!) It also seems the blade was in civilian mounts prior to being sent to war as it has the original lacquered saya within the leather war cover. There is a stamp on the tang which looks similar to a Seki stamp, but when compared to other pictures is distinctly faint and not as clear cut as being a stamp. Any help, information or guidance is greatly appreciated! ibb.co/b4mv2kibb.co/cEztoQibb.co/dJ1TNkibb.co/dKsPv5ibb.co/hSLoNkibb.co/mT4F2kibb.co/eubjv5ibb.co/nd668Qibb.co/nesPv5ibb.co/mmUtoQibb.co/ixVzTQibb.co/hpqcF5ibb.co/gRS2hkibb.co/fnvoNk

敏秀 - Toshihide
Only one signing that mei lived 1916 - 1952, Gifu smith. Real name Asai Kazue and he worked as guntō smith.
EDIT* Got the date too, I am not fan of these imperial dates but I think 二千六百二年 2602 which is 1942 in real time.

Ah nice! Cheers for the help on that one.
Was struggling to work out that first character in his signature, it's engraved very casually so I couldn't match it up!
What do you reckon to the seki stamp? Looks a bit faint but I think it is what it is.
Nice blade for drawing and polishes up well!
