Sig Sauer P320 Carry 9mm (17+1) 2 17rnd Mags Siglite Night Sights Synopsis: Ergonomics are great right out of the box. Usually I have to buy a "Talon Grip-like" grip, ESPECIALLY with the two Glock's I own, but the P320's grip is perfect without aftermarket anything! I'm bringing it to the range tomorrow, so what I normally would insert here about the trigger is "dryfire" only. Dry firing it I'm reminded of my H&K, and the Walther I used to own, but any other aspect of the trigger is hollow without a range review. I would have bought the Compact version, but I like the extra 2 bullets. 2 extra bullets are better than 2 bullets you're short. The sights are good three dot night sights. The shooting club I belong to has outdoor AND indoor capabilities.....so whether I'm out or in, I can always pick up my sight picture. If I can think of anything else worthy of mentioning I'll add it after range time. Thanks for the read.

The gun that took my click-boom "virginity" was a Gen 2 Sig Sauer P220 (.45). Obviously the WRONG gun for beginners, but I foolishly (in my young age) thought that if I could handle the round that made the "Peacemaker" famous, I could handle ANY handgun....... Anywho, this is actually my first "compact" carry gun. Unlike everyone else on the planet, I do not own a Glock 19, (I have the 20, and 21) so this was the next feasible offer in the "budget!" I'll happily let you know how she goes bang tomorrow. I must bid you adieu good sir, sleep beckons 😉 (If only my mortal enemy insomnia would stay away).

I love SIGs. I also don't own a 19... I've a 17 and a 22.. my EDC is a Springfield XD 45 compact I am like a 30 minute drive away from Sigs headquarters here in NH so it's very hard to make excuses NOT to own more 😅 I actually like the 17 more than the 19, but that's probably cause I've carried full size semiautos for almost 16yrs. Being over 6ft tall has a lot to do with it......I imagine if I was like 5'6 I'd probably have been carrying compacts and subcompacts all this time. I LOVE Springfield handguns. I had a .40 XD a few years back, but exchanged it for the Glock 30 I USED to have (long story I'll spare you from) and regretted it ever since. You should check out the Steyr M A-1.....either .40 or 9mm. VERY interesting little gun with one of the most unique sight systems I've seen in a LONG time! Worth the look though if you've got some spare time to Google them. Regret giving that one up too!!

Only had time for two boxes (50/box) of 124gr 9mm, but I was also popping the cherry (pardon the vernacular) on my H&K VP9.....which disappointed me by getting a stovepipe on the 2nd shot, but not every expensive gun is perfect. Pfftt I even read an article that one of the new Kimber 1911's had to be recalled cause parts were "falling off" during range tests, and those are $1000 and up! The guy shooting next to me had a P229 and was practically dry humping me watching me shoot. I thought I was gonna have to put a round in his foot to get him back in his own lane! LOL

I actually have had nothing but troubles with HK pistols which is why I own none. Never had a single issue with my Kimber. ;) never a single round issue whatsoever and that sucker is a tack driver

My buddy has been trying to convert me to a P220 for a while now, but nothing has come close to knocking my Glock 30S off the CCW throne for me Its the perfect size and amount of power for concealed carry IMHO. Ramses1079 you said you regret getting rid of the 30? I guarantee you would like the 30S much better. Its got the 30SF (short frame) frame and the 36 (single stack .45) slim slide. So, its kind of a Frankenstein of the 30SF and 36. Basically though, you get the lightweight slim profile slide of the 36 with the 10+1 bullet capacity of the 30SF double stack frame, in a powerful, compact .45 pistol. It shoots as accurate as your ability will allow and doesn't have much recoil (to me anyway). Anyway, congrats on the new P320 man Its always fun getting a new toy to play with. It looks like its about the same size as my Glock 19 w/ a 17 mag and Xgrip. Enjoy your new toy and be safe

They're ALL awesome, but why I chose the carry is: Compact slide & barrel, with Full-size capacity. The VP9 is my first H&K.....mostly cause 8 out of 10 H&K's are $750 and WAY up! I had a trade in to put towards the purchase, plus cause of my credentials I was able to get the LEO "tactical" model (stock night sights & threaded barrel) which is pretty high, yet cheaper still cause the N.S's and Thrd Brl are a ball buster bought separately. Other than that the VP9 is pretty dang awesome, but if your into compacts/subcompacts there's a new VP9SK that just came out. Price is semi-reasonable, stock night sights, and 3 mags come with! Don't misunderstand, I'm not a "Kimber Hater" or anything like that......actually the new Kimber .357 revolver has caught my eye several times.....but my point is that even "top-of-the-line" products occasionally fall flat on their face at times ✌🏻

It looks like its about the same size as my Glock 19 w/ a 17 mag and Xgrip. Enjoy your new toy and be safe I've had BOTH guns at different times, so I can give you great input on both. The G30 is hands down one of the best compact .45's I've used in 18 years. However, my first gun EVER was the P220......so I can tell you that reliability-wise I NEVER had a FTF, FTE, no stovepipes, or even any "slide bite" in over 800 rounds. I'm talking steel rounds, copper rounds, hollow points, +P rounds. Nada! The recoil (for a .45) may as well have been been for a "hot" 9mm round......not a .45. So BOTH are great guns, but it just boils down to what YOU yourself need it for, or what you yourself are MOST comfortable tossing lead through! Tough choice, but whichever one you pick, YOU are still the winner!! I'm gonna have to look into the G30S.....kinda sounds like one of the new Springfield Compact .45's which I've heard mixed reviews on.....but as far as aftermarket parts go, Glock's always gonna win out in that Dept. Thanks so much for the info and the well wishes. Right back at ya 😉

I think you misunderstood me I already own the G30S (and G19, G20SF, G29SF, G43 lol) and my buddy has just been trying to get me to buy a Sig P220. I'm not really in the market for another gun at the moment. I just thought you had said you weren't happy with the G30, so I was suggesting the G30S as an alternative since I love it so much. Sigs and Glocks are both so reliable that it just boils down to brand loyalty and what's more comfortable to shoot with IMO. I've never had a FTF, FTE or stove pipe in any Glock I've owned as well, except a few FTEs on my Glock 29 with G20 mag w/ Xgrip. For some reason the the xgrip was causing the longer G20 mag to press the next bullet just enough to cause the spent casing to get stuck at the extractor, kind of weird. That was just an anomaly with an aftermarket part though, so I don't really count that. Springfields are great pistols too, but I don't like the triggers on those. There is no tactile or audible cue when the trigger resets after firing, unlike the glock which has both. Plus, you can't modify Springfields at all really. They don't sell aftermarket parts for them and if you want something done, you have to send it to them to do for you, or so I was told anyway. Yeah, aftermarket for Glocks wins hands down for sure, I've modified every Glock I own myself with parts easily bought from pretty much anywhere, even Amazon lol.

Sorry Sean, yeah I think my insomnia's kick in' my arse! I follow you now. No I never disliked my G 30 at all, I just traded it in to get my G20, which became my ccw for the next 5yrs. Not sure if I already said this, but I'm 6'1 so carrying a full size duty pistol was never a problem for me. I also carried a CZ P-09 (19+1 9mm) and a Beretta 92FS....WHICH I still love to this day. Is the G30 your favorite ccw, or is there another special lady in your life? 😉 I know some mags you can buy off www. cheaperthandirt.com are okay, but some, like Pmag, or Mecgar do nothing but cause problems feeding your handgun. That used to happen with my old 1911. Most aftermarket mags made it run like crap......until I had to spend $30/mag for ones like Wilson combat mags....etc.

No worries That's probably the best thing you could've done with that G30 anyway, the G20 is so much fun and easy to shoot, even for a 10MM. I'm actually 6'1" as well, so I feel you on carrying full size pistols, its definitely easier for longer, leaner folks like myself. It's hard to say my G30S is my "favorite" since any of my pistols can be good CCW (though the G20 is less than ideal, since I have a G29), but it's definitely the one I carry the most. In fact, my G19, G29, and G43 have been in my Gun Case for a while now, and all I've had out are my G20 for my nightstand gun, and the G30S, right next to it for CCW. The G43 is obviously the most comfortable to wear for long periods, you forget its even there sometimes. The G29 is pretty much the exact same size as the G30, so its heavier and thicker than the G30S. Plus, I worry more about overpenetration with the 10mm than the bigger, slower .45acp. However, its damn sure what I want next to me at night to stop a home invasion (if I can't get to my AR-15 that is ). Of course, G19 is also a great CCW, but I haven't carried it in a while either. Yeah, the G20 mag I was using with the Xgrip on my G29 was a stock glock mag, same mags I use for my G20. I'm not sure what the deal was with the Xgrip, but it must have been putting just enough pressure on it to cause the FTE, like I said kind of weird. Ammunition Depot is where I get most of my ammo and mags from, and they have stock glock mags for like $22 usually. So I only buy the stock ones, since they're so reasonably priced. Of course, I also get some ammo from Underwood for my 10mm...their 165 grain bonded jhp speer tipped rounds are just nasty @ 1400fps & 718ft/lbs

The G29 is just as good, but I feel ya on over penetration (that's what she said 😈) cause I live in a townhouse style house and my neighbors aren't far enough away to avoid the vengeful 10mm..... ESPECIALLY when I put the magazine holding my Buffalo Barnes 220gr Flat Nose 10mm, which I dub the sperm whale slayer! But that Ammo would destroy my neighborhood if I put that in my "nighttime carry gun." Ya gotta keep dem hollow points handy or someone in the next room....or even house....might get hurt/killed! That's odd you were having FTE's!!

Ramses1079 - are you running those BB 220gr flat nose 10mm with a stock G20 barrel? I seem to remember most glock people say you need an aftermarket barrel for a 220gr. Though I think Hickok45 on youtube tested some 220gr out of a stock G20 and I'm pretty sure they were shooting true with no wobble, so I could be misremembering in my old age lol. I've got some Underwood 200gr lead flat nose for when SHTF Those are some seriously nasty rounds.

Storm lake, or Lone Wolf if I was to use them on a steady basis, but (funny you mentioned him) Hickok45 shot them through his stock barrel cause it was "for the video" type deal if MY old brain is remembering it correctly 😉 Kinda like with +P rounds, or even +P+ Ammo. Manufacturers are either "okay" with it, "okay occasionally," or "not at all." I would NEVER run them on a constant basis.....but as you wisely said, they're for when the SHTF situations. They're only nasty rounds if YOU'RE on the other end of the barrel!

Yeah, I remember that now. He was saying that he wouldn't normally run those through a stock barrel, but did it for the video to see if it could be done. Yes, I would NOT want to be on the business end of a G20 firing a 220gr lead flat nose!!

Oh my god right! That would be almost as bad as a hollow point round. But again, I wouldn't beat on my G20......that's my baby! I actually named it Kratos, from the God of War series. Not sure if you play video games, but then again so few even appeal to me nowadays! Have you seen the Mossberg Shockwave?! AWESOME!
