That doesn't look like a flaw from the polishing (hadori polish is there to cover flaws like this) but rather it would be from forging. Chances are that the clay could have fallen off here during the heat treat and quenching or something else.

Thanks for the info... what's the chance for this to be covered by hadori polish or one has to look at it closely to tell?

This has already been covered up by a hadori polish, but it will never be completely hidden as you have found yourself. If it was just on sashikomi style polish the break in the temper line would be even more visible than it is now. There is no way to remove this flaw no matter. I like it though, I think it gives the sword character like a scar 😄

It was a very good nihonto in general though.
