Good work, yea I lol when simple fixes don't get remedied by the manufacture.
Cool seeing the Roven next to the Anduril, I've always said the Roven could pass as a alternative to a Anduril and seeing them side by side pushes that, lol. Surprised the Anduril hilt pieces are so bulky compared to the Ronin Longsword and Roven. They don't look as bulky in sale pics. How's the pommel holding up? It may be the picture but it looks like it's off center.

Given that i am pretty much a novice when it comes to sword mods, you have to wonder why DSA would not go that little bit further to make truly exceptional products. The blade is awesome. best mirror finish and sharpening job I have ever seen. Pommel is centred properly but the line in the middle of the hilt piece is slightly crooked. I really like the beef in the pommel and the lever control feels great. I haven't cut anything yet but given the tang only runs about 1.5" into the pommel I don't plan on any pommel strikes on hard targets . EDIT: I see what you are talking about. The leather wrap on one side is thicker due to the seam. It gives the appearance of being off centre but alignment is good when looking down the length of the sword.

Good to hear, I was wondering if it was just the camera angle or the cord on the grip. Glad you like it, how much was it on sale? Any pics of it apart? I'm sure the guys in the construction thread would love to see it apart if you have any or are willing to take it apart again and show the tang.

For the full package (sword + sharpening + interlaced scabbard) 500 USD (normal price for the package 625). The way these are now made, as I understand it, the pommel and tang are heated and then pressure set. I wont be taking it apart until necessary but I have used a magnet to confirm the depth of the tang in the pommel and it goes in about 1.5 inches Which I think is fairly common knowledge. More depth would be nice but according to DSA it is a solid join and they have not had a failure of the join on these swords. That being said, understanding the sword construction there would be some things I would be reluctant to do like murder or pommel striking. Really don't see any issue with normal cutting or blade oriented usage (strikes, parrying etc).

Good work on the scabbard mouth. Sometimes small changes can make a big difference.
I have the same sword and their Ranger. Mine has a bend in the last 3rd of the blade. Hilt and blade are not centered. When handling, the grip does not line up with the blade and you have to turn the sword slightly. Ranger sword is good with no issues I have found yet. Just kept them as not too many functional LOTR swords (especially Anduril) out there unless you go custom. Have seen a couple of modified Hanwei blades with LOTR-type fittings.

Is your Anduril fairly new? Sorry to hear about the bend. I also have the Ranger. Very solid sword. I have to put an edge on it yet. Guess I lucked out with what seems to be a very straight sword. I wont count my chickens until I do some test cutting though .

Bought both of mine a few months ago. I have had around 10 or more DSA swords over the years. They used to be fairly beefy sparring type swords. Now they are sourcing blades with different steel and better weights. They now have some taper. I sold or gave away the other ones as I found flaws or things that I did not like about them. The Anduril may go but it is the only functional one I know of without going custom. DSA had said a good ways back that they discontinued the Anduril and Ranger but they are around at DSA and other places.

This one is a keeper I think. The only thing I am thinking of doing now is grinding down the bump on the back of the hilt a bit as it digs in to the hand when swinging the sword. I think you would know what I mean. Maybe a nice hollow that the thumb can lay on when using a flat grip would work well and look good.

Wow, I see what you mean with the finish on that blade, it almost looks chrome plated. Someone really put in some extra effort polishing that one. Yeah I would say that one is a keeper. I personally don't buy swords for their scabbards. I ordered my Eindride without a scabbard so I can do a back scabbard for it.

I am beyond just happy with it. I still stop to look at it whenever walking by it on the display I made for it and I still smile. Love the sword.
