Wondering what you guys are thinking about the flood of cheap patterned welded blades flooding the market at the moment. It seems a big problem with some of these is the pathetic tangs that run through the handles. That being said, I just could not resist these full tang models at the price. Opinions? This an 18" blade with 6" hilt. Buffalo horn scales. Damascus is supposedly 1095 and 15n20 steels This blade is 11" blade 5.75" handles. Same materials.

Very poor blade geometry IMO. Basically slabs of steel with edge bevels ground on, so the handling will be bad. My experience with Pakistani damascus blade edges (on knives, not swords) is that the edges are poorly done, and significant work will be needed to get them into proper cutting condition.
For ornamental use, they're fine.
The ones I've played with are real damascus (i.e., real folded steel). The blades are stained to enhance the contrast.

honestly the Damascus looks like a skin rather then the actual metal Questions about the materials used aside, I am pretty sure this is genuinely folded steel, not a skin job (at least I hope not). In other pics you can see the layers in the spine. May ultimately prove to be crap steel . . . we shall see. Pretty cheap fantasy blade alternative to some of the stainless stuff that looks pretty average much of the time and costs way too much for stainless steel wall-hangers.

Will do . . . re intro . . . I find the layout of this forum a little unintuitive. Did not see a new members thread so just started posting. It must be hidden somewhere I haven't looked yet. If you tell me the secret I will put up a few words. In the meantime, Hi Everyone! I like swords archery and electric guitars. Avid collector of associated items. Cheers.
