Hey, folks...Anyone here ever have any dealings with a Ukrainian armor maker named StahlGilde? They are kinda on the same level as Epic Armoury and Lord of Battles...more LARP than anything else. Mostly 18 ga. 'costume' armor, but they do offer 16 ga. Their prices are pretty good...shipping is a bit high...but hey, it's from the UKRAINE. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I've been in contact with StahlGilde myself (and a few other Northern-Europe based armourers of a similar vein) and sent them some custom sketches for a few pieces of armour. They recent quoted me some really affordable price estimates and I suspect I'll be ordering from them in the next month or so. I'd be getting some 18 gauge gauntlets in a pseudo-gothic style (loosely based on a design by an artist named Lumecluster) made by them. Unless one of the other armourers I've contacted gives me a better price, which is unlikely. ( This is the design I sent them, just for reference) I'd be doing a review of the pieces they sent me, and might even order an arm harness/pauldrons/even more from them later, too, seeing as their prices were so good. So if you're okay to wait a couple months for an answer I could give you a comparison to my Windlass helmet. |

Hey,veerdin....Just fwiw, I just got a set of pauldrons in 16ga. and a swiveling gorget from Mytholon, sold by Medieval Collectibles. VERY GOOD quality stuff...and cheeeeap! Check them out! The Mytholon stuff has a product code "MYxxxx". Just be sure to check the availability. Great armor!..........Chris

Sorry for the super, super late reply, I kind of vanished from the internet for a long time in 2017, it was a hectic year. Thanks for the info on Mytholon, though! I've seen their products before and I've heard good things about them! I was considering picking some of their items up, such as one of their gambesons. Although right now I'm still in talks with StahlGilde regarding my gauntlets. It's been a while, but I'll finally be going forward to order them in the next three months. I'll be sure to post a review of them here! Not sure if you ever bought any StahlGilde stuff in the intervening time.
