well .. that's a nice point of view .. but .. historically according with the age .. what would be the sword . ?.. it's a little confusing for me , because all those ancient swords are simple design, beauty but deadly, and well in the web there's no much info about the historical side of this sword just for the wallhangers that sales in ebay,, by the way thanks xanatoas .

King Solomon lived around the 10th century B.C. if I'm not mistaken. His sword would have been bronze or iron and likely not very long. The sword depicted, as well as the clothing, appears medieval, and is probably what the artist had around for example.

I think that his sword would have been along the lines of these examples.

Yea thats a medievel rendition, not to be relied upon from a historical perspective. What maz posted looks closer. The fact is, no one knows for sure

It's called artistic license, there are many so called "historical" pieces that are artistic license.

Not so much artistic license as ignorance. The artists of the period in which that painting was done knew nothing of the clothing, arms, etc. of King Solomon's period, so they simply portrayed their Biblical characters dressed in contemporary (to them) outfits, including weapons, etc. That painting should be seen simply as art and not in any way a historical statement, except insofar as it gives clues as to when the painting was done.
Maz & Alvin have it covered pretty well, I think.

As alvin and maz said, the sword of Solomon probably was a short sword, made of bronze (higher quality) or rudimentary iron forged (iron was being worked recently).......his armor would have been scale armor, which probably was reserved for nobility and or elite troops as the kings bodyguard, the Hebrew and Levantine armies of the epoch had no heavy armor were more levy armies than proffessional ones. Only with the Assyrians the proffessional army with standard equipment notions came out.................

thanks to all of you for give your opinion .. all your replies and pics ( Alvin) are great for the main idea. I always want to know about this sword of the king solomon , because was a very wise king and i felt curiosity how were his armor and swords , or kinda . And well .. with many decorative swords nowdays and medieval images that we can download, I felt confused.. thanks guys I felt that was a short sword with simple design, simple maybe .. but beautiful and powerful indeed. Peace!
