I love (hate) this scene when Tywin Lannister melts down the Stark family sword "Ice" for new blades. The music is great and the meaning has so much weight:

i love it cause ice is too big and instead of one sword, you get 2, cant hate on that, and they both look prettier

Watching him melt down then cast a new blade seems more appropriate for a bronze blade rather than steel.

It's Valyrian Steel... can even cut Mithril Mail! And we all (?) have seen steel sword casting in the Conan movies, so it must be true!

Between my loyalty to House Stark and my love for huge swords, that was a hard scene for me to watch; but a powerful and symbolic scene nevertheless. The tossing of the wolf-scabbard into the fire was the proverbial icing on the cake. Just another reason GOT is probably my favorite show.

I don’t make it to the movies so consider me an out of it and a dummy. I’ve never seen a Conan movie so I didn’t know, dumb me. I just now looked up GOT, thanks to Voltan, and see that it has something to do with “Game of Thrones”. Am I square or what??? Hehe.

And the steel sword casting in Conan must be true because we've seen it in Game of Thrones on TV too!

It could have been so much better. I mean here's this supposedly ultra mega steel, and it melts with no greater heat than I fry bacon with. Then it's poured out into open channels and is somehow creating new ultra mega steel swords. Why not show it being returned to some epic crucible of doom with white hot coals and great bellows straining to keep it hot enough? Then have smiths try to work the stubborn steel that's barely movable in spite of the heat.

rofl ! Besides the Conan joke: The valyrian steel is already there, you might use wildfire to melt it, so casting like bronze isn't even a bad idea.
