I've been looking through the Cas/Hanwei website looking for another katana to purchase in the future and I noticed that Dragon King has some new ones that haven't been on the market for very long. Namely their Tatsumaki katana and the Savior katana. I really like the Tatsumaki. What is the overall opinion of Dragon King? Better than Hanwei? I wouldn't be cutting with it, at all. Right now I'm also looking at the Tori, Tiger elite, and the Lion dog. Could Dragon King be better?

I know this is sort of an old thread, but since no one responded, I have some experience with both brands of swords. Keep in mind, I'm new to buying Japanese swords so this is just my humble opinion on the quality of Dragon King...so take it with a grain of salt. Having said that though, I do own several Ronin Katana swords (brand, not style), Hanwei Tori XL Light, soon to be a Tori XL, and a Hanwei Ninja-To. The dragon King I own is the Fletching Katana and I'm extremely happy with the quality of this sword. It was only $342 compared to the higher priced ones you were looking at with the tatsumaki and savior katana, but from what I've read, it seems that the same T10 DH blades are used with more expensive fittings. Either way, the Fletching Katana is great. The ito is nice and tight with even diamonds. The tsuba, fuchi and kashira are all tight. The blade is very well polished with a nice notare hamon. The shinogi ji is mirror polished with the ji more of a satin finish, and a counter polished flat yokote (no actual transition, just cosmetic). Its a nice looking sword, and I couldn't ask for more for what I paid for it. Whether its better than Hanwei or not? Its hard to say, since this is very subjective. Compared to the hanwei swords I own, I think the fit and finish is every bit as good, if not better. The saya fit is nice and tight and there is very little saya rattle, if any at all. All the hanwei I have do have a decent amount of saya rattle, but apparently, this is pretty common on production swords anyway. I did have a few issues with fit and finish on my Tori XL Light and it had to be exchanged, but hanwei was very good about all of it and there was no problem with the return/replacement process. So, I imagine it will just come down to personal preference on the style of fittings and color scheme you want between all those swords you mention. I hope this helps

I have not handled the Lotus katana, but do know that Dragon King has a matching wakizashi for that model as well as the Pine Crane katana
