Well, it certainly looks like the Valiant one....which according to this thread: /index.cgi?board=swordcustom&action=display&thread=1858 doesn't leave a whole lot of hope for the tang structure. hope this helps, Dan

That Hand and a Half is part of this line: Click hereHanwei has started making these models for us, they used to be made in the philipinnes thus the noticeable resemblance to other maker's designs. Blake

I have one of these that isn't antiqued. It's about ninty bucks cheaper. I like it, tho you'll have to work on the edge a bit to get it to cut. It is indeed peened and has held up well for me. Be aware the pommel is hollow. If I didn't have one I'd buy one.

I think that they are actually making solid pommels for their swords now, I would personally wait for one of the tinker swords but that is just me.

so the hand and half or Albrecht II does indeed have hallow pommel. i read the review of the bastrd sword were the pommel fell off , so the Albrecht II holds up better it seems, i wasnt sure if it was peened on or just glued. now i know ;D now how would you compare the ATRIM practical long sword to the Albrecht II? those are the 2 that i got it really down to now so many pretty swords not enough money, so only one for now any thoughts ;D

Leo, the practical LS cuts better than the Albrecht II. Only thing about the practical is Martys practical arming had the threaded rod break off, only time will tell if this is going to be an on going problem. I like the Al a lot tho it's got a style that appeals to me and the pommel hasn't been a problem so far. Like I said it has to be sharpened a bit more to cut. It come sharpish not sharp enough.

I saw that also, Vyapada. I took into account that he didn't sharpen the blade and used it out of the box. That sword doesn't come real sharp. In my mind this could contribute to the bend as more force would be needed to cut. ShooterMike cut tatami with his with no problems. I'm not pushing the Hanwei, just trying to provide some clarity. Actually if I was looking for a cutter I'd go with the VA practical.

How did you sharpen yours?

I used a ceramic rod and sand paper working at an angle away from the center of the blade and toward the tip.
