I don't know of a historical counterpart for this one but the construction is probably just fine. I don't imagine it will fall apart with ordinary use. I don't know that vendor's return policy on Windlass but unsharpened Windlass items should be returnable. Meaning if you order one unsharpened (to sharpen or not yourself) you would be able to return it if you disliked the way it handles. I think it likely to handle pretty blade heavy despite the brass grip.
Looks fun though. I'd never noticed it listed before but haven't watched the Atlanta Cutlery site much over the past couple of years. For the price, it's hard to say you can go wrong unless you are expecting something historically correct or a lithe and handy sabre.
Cheers
Hotspur; whoo hoo, on sale too
