Been working on this project, and others, on and off for the past 2 years or so. This was my first project blade, an DelTin Cinquedea shortsword blade from the Albion moat sale. I had originally mounted it as is, but with an epoxied, ironwood handle. The handle was too bulky, and began to crack, so I stripped it and opted to finish the scabbard(which was a block of wood at the time). Scabbard is poplar, lined with felt, covered in a leather shamy which i dyed brown and treated with mink oil. The ridges are leather underneath. The chape is brass, also from the Albion moat sale. The guard and pommel I cut and shaped from 1/4" mild steel plate. Blued. Handle is unknown wood(left over from when my parents had the kitchen redone, hard stuff), treated with tung oil. Brass ferrule to match the chape. The only parts I did not craft myself are the blade and chape. Here's what it looked like a long, long time ago: And here it is, today!

whats the overall length on that? also veryyy nice how much did it cost? 23.5" overall, 18" blade. Costs... Let's see... >$70 blade. >$5 chape. >~$10 worth of poplar. >~10 worth of leather(guessing, I forget what I mpaid for the shamy). >$0 for scrap wood. >$0 for scrap steel. Overall, cost less then $100. I'd say it's worth atleast double that, considering how many man hours I put into her... lol I also forget how much I paid for the cheap thing of Rit dye for the shamy, and the can of Tung oil. Blah blah blah.

HR, as much as you and me do not like each-other, I do not suggest cutting anything with this sword. I saw a picture of the tang of that model, and it is pitiful. Looks as if it would break on the first hit.

Master, do you have a link to the picture of that tang? Thanks From Albion's moat sale, used without permission. The tang looks thin, but it's a real tang. There are no welded joints, only step-downs. When a tang is properly made, it doesn't have to be massive and wide. Master293: It's a DelTin, it's made to be used. They're easily a step or two above Windlass. I've already done a fair bit of cutting with this sword the first time I mounted it. It faired perfectly against bottles, coke cans(a lateral motion exercise), and 1.5" thick saplings with zero negative effects to any part of the sword. It's good to know the limits of a blade. This is easily a munitions grade sword, and I have every reason to beleive this sword should function to the extend that any sword should, within reason. I'll do my best not to attack any improper targets or do any creative projectile work, though.

Nice work. I like that grip, how does it feel in your hand? Fantastic. Its contour is made for a somewhat "fencing" grip, with shapeds of historical examples in mind, but it surprisngly fits a hammer-grip quite well.
