Hi guys, I know I've rambled on a lot about the Hanwei Practical Tai Chi sword. I've pretty much finished the guard design. All the practical components are there, and I've made sure they fit. I'll add some more basic aesthetic details, and clean it up, but its pretty much ready to be cast. The idea is Han Dynasty aesthetics, Qing Dynasty functionality, and a design alluding to an inside joke with my grandmother lol

dont see many koi designed guards, it looks like it could be very nice when finished, are u planning to have the guard be black at the end? I think that would look awesome

Making silicon bronze black is difficult and expensive with my lack of experience. I'm turning a $120 sword into a $1000 sword by sheer expense of American labor LOL Made in the USA, by a person of Chinese descent.

got to etch fishes swimming on the blade now, its the only way for this to be a true fish sword, and a fish tail pommel would finish it and you would have the first fish themed sword of all time, screw dragons its time for fishes to shine

Looks great! How are you going to do the pommel? Will the tang be threaded on or peened?
BTW Do you work at a foundry?

I've been thinking about the pommel for a while, so prepare for those questions in this forum lol. I am leaning towards using the threads because the tang isnt that long. If I can figure out how to peen it I will do that. I'm def scrapping the original Hanwei design though, where the nut doesnt make full use of its own threads. I don't work at a foundry, but I have easy access to one. Friends with the owner lol
