cked up a new Windlass Ringmere axe during their Black Friday sale, 25% off which made it cheaper than KoA's price. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=601014&name=Ringmere+AxeFirst thing I noticed was the haft had a much bigger diameter than other axes I have of similar size. I'm not sure of the type of wood but it doesn't seem to be very heavy, all the weight is on the business end. It is darker than the MRL pictures and more the color of the KoA pics. It seems like a fairly well made item. Not sure if it's what I would take into battle but with a more ergonomic custom handle it would be a formidable weapon which may make me change my mind. The head itself would be a good size for a close quarters axe and looks like it would hold up well. No more description than high carbon steal (probably 1065 which Windlass uses for more items) and not sure of the tempering. MRL doesn't offer sharpening on it but KoA does for $15 more. Mine is not sharpened yet. I'm still deciding if I'll sharpen it or just hang it. One thing it does do is sing. I'll try to attach a recording of the sound it makes when it's tapped.

This looks like a cool addition to a Viking collection - I love the detail. I really like Viking weapons and I've been eyeing this since they begin to offer it. Is there anyway you could post a pic of it beside a dollar bill? I'd like to get an exact idea of it's size. Also, I'm wondering what the actual weight of it is. I know KOA says 2 lbs, but you never really know until you weigh it. Thanks for sharing!

Sure, this should give you an idea on size. I can't verify the weight.

That is very weird. They were attached and inserted using SBG forum so there must be an error in the database for the forum pointing to the wrong images.
I tried to remove and re-insert the photos but they still point to the wrong image even though the thumbnails are correct. I'll try re-uploading them tonight when I'm home.

I am not sure what you are trying to prove. I wanted to see your axe in more detail but you give me a blank page, messages about should have a revolution in the US along with other anti-Trump messages, toy war scenes, you don’t want to die in Canada????

Your original picture links are going to weird places I deleted the attachments and re-uploaded them. They seem to work now.

Not me. I want to die in Middle Earth. You could see the thumbnails to the original pictures but the links weren't going to what I uploaded. I have nothing to prove.

An axe is easy enough to sharpen yourself, it doesn't take the skill level of sharpening a sword.

It happens. It had me flabbergasted, too. I had never seen that stuff before.

An axe is easy enough to sharpen yourself, it doesn't take the skill level of sharpening a sword. Already done. I hope to do some testing this weekend.
