The Prussian Offers sabre with screw-on basket was in use around 1860 - 1870 and could have seen use in the Franco - Prussian War. I learned about this contraption while going through the Deutches Blankwaffen Forum: www.deutsches-blankwaffenforum.de/index.php?s=f29d9b2ab2989ff6dc549e93a5404b18 . In German it is called: Der Anschraub Korb. Needless to say that sabres kitted out to accommodate this basket are not very common and as such should fetch high prices. On the other hand, almost nobody knows that the things exist, so who knows, you may stumble upon one at Ebay. The basket, now that is another story and a complete set, well that should go for really serious money if you were so lucky to ever find one. But never mind, I thought this system to be eccentric and interesting enough to alert you to its existence and for the DIY minded amongst us, with the help of an old WE French Dragoon and some American ingenuity you could make your own Anschraub Korb for your IOD89 or some such. Have fun!

Huh - that is super cool. Thanks for sharing.
Asides from being practical, it also looks very stylish!

Next thing you'll know they'll all be bolting on cupholders and ashtrays on their sabres!
Super cool idea though. Great find!

That is a good one! Thank you very much. I have the picture. I did a screen shot. Java script can be a pain sometimes. Look at the asking price: $40.000!

I have recently come into possession of a hema sabre with a simple knuckle bow. I do not want broken fingers so I will try to undertake this project and update when I am able to. I plan on using Deepeeka model AH3119 as the bars come the closest to the originals. Anyone want a pallasch blade, grip, and Scabbard? Lol.
